The rapid development of economy and society has led to the change and development of education,and higher-order thinking ability has become a key concern of the education circle.The development of outstanding thinking of primary school students is an important task and goal of primary school mathematics education in the new era.STEM education is an important part of education.The interdisciplinary education that integrates mathematics,science,technology,and engineering,emphasizes the cultivation of high-order thinking ability,advocates deep learning,STEM education,and the cultivation of high-order mathematical thinking ability.Can we try to introduce the concept of STEM education in the development process to promote the development of students’ higher-order thinking ability in mathematics? And what is the degree of development and the effect of improvement? These are not clear.This research intends to test the effect and degree of STEM education concept on the development of primary school students’ mathematics higher-order thinking ability by integrating STEM education concept into elementary school mathematics teaching.This study selects Class 1 and Class 2 of Grade 5 of F Primary School in L City as the research objects,and uses experimental methods to conduct experimental research on the effect of primary school mathematics teaching based on the STEM education concept on improving the development of mathematics higher-order thinking ability.Firstly,the current situation of the high-order thinking ability in mathematics of the two classes through the pre-test papers is investigated.The survey results show that the experimental class and the control class have the same level of high-order thinking ability in mathematics.creativity.Secondly,the experimental class was taught elementary school mathematics based on the STEM education idea.The control group adopted traditional teaching methods.After one semester of teaching experiment,the two classes were issued post-test papers for post-testing,and the recovered data were sorted and analyzed.The research believes that:First,the teaching method under the STEM education concept can effectively promote the development of primary school students’ higher-order thinking ability in mathematics compared with the traditional teaching method;second,the STEM education concept can promote the development of primary school students’ analytical and evaluation abilities;third,STEM The effect of educational philosophy on the development of creative ability is not significant.
