At the beginning of the 21 st century,China started a new round of curriculum reform.The new curriculum reform put forward higher requirements for student assessment.The new assessment view requires that the assessment should pay attention to the whole process of students' development,not only the function of assessment should be limited to screening and selection,but also the developmental function of assessment.The portfolio assessment requires paying attention to the whole process of students' development and recording the students' overall growth.Its assessment concept is in line with the assessment view put forward by the new curriculum reform.In order to meet the requirements of the new assessment view,China introduced the portfolio assessment in the early 21 st century,and carried out it in some primary and secondary schools.The appearance of portfolio assessment has changed the present situation of one-sided assessment of students in traditional assessment methods,injected new vitality into the assessment work of students,and effectively promoted the development of students.As a new assessment method of the new curriculum reform,how to effectively implement the portfolio assessment in our country and play its due role in promoting the development of students is a subject worthy of attention.Therefore,it is of great theoretical value and practical significance to study the implementation of the portfolio assessment in China.Based on the case analysis method,this paper takes S Middle High School as a case study to investigate and interview some teachers,students and parents.Based on the investigation of the present situation of the portfolio assessment,this paper analyzes the problems and causes in the process of its implementation,and tries to put forward the corresponding improvement countermeasures.Hope to provide feasible reference for the effective implementation of this evaluation method in the future.Based on the case study of S Middle High School,the author finds that the portfolio assessment has achieved some results in the implementation process,such as:promoting the development of home-school cooperation;ensuring the students' independent development and stimulating the students' personality development.However,the following problems still exist in its implementation: first,the assessment subject having insufficient understanding of the portfolio assessment;second,the content collected by the assessment subject lacking of systematization;third,the enthusiasm of multiple subjects to participate in the assessment is not high;Fourth,the assessment results lacking effective feedback;fifth,the use of the portfolio assessment efficiency is low.The main reasons for these problems are: the bondage of traditional educational concept;the insufficient support of relevant education departments;the lack of self-study consciousness of teachers;the lack of students' coping ability;and the limitation of the portfolio assessment itself.In order to effectively implement the portfolio assessment in the school and play its due function,this study puts forward the corresponding improvement strategies:strengthen the training of teachers,students and parents to help understand the portfolio assessment;constantly stimulate the enthusiasm of multiple assessment subjects to participate in the assessment,and guide parents and students to participate in the assessment process;make full and effective use of the assessment results;gradually improve the self-deficit of the portfolio assessment.
