With the promotion of the new policy to college entrance examination in Hainan Province,the senior two students of our high school are the first grade students to completely take new textbooks,and they need to take new college entrance examination with High School Mathematics Curriculum Standards.Students encounter all kinds of difficulties because they are first to learn Conic Section.In order to make the teaching of conic section more effective in the future,it is significant to do research for difficulties that students encounter when they are learning and measures that teachers can take.The article was written by doing a test,questionnaires and personal interview,and 248 students who are from 6 classes of senior 2 in Wanning Middle School Attached to Beijing Normal University in Hainan province were selected for the research.Combined with the suggestions given by some teachers in our school's mathematics teaching and research group,the test paper is designed according to the model of students' weekly test paper.By investigating the difficulties and causes of conic learning among students,and according to the result of students' answers to the examination paper and collection and analysis of questionnaire,it is divided into four types of difficulties:1.Obstacles of understanding basic knowledge: hard to understand and remember the definition of a conic section.2.Application obstacles:the difficulties of analyzing questions,l ogical inference,application of mathematical thought,Synthetic proble m solving.3.Obstacles in solving problems: students are lack of operational abilities,terrible operational habits,lack of operational skills and so on.4.Emotional problems: Students are lack of sense of achievement and interest in the study of conic curve and have fear of difficulties and resistance.According to the analysis of leading to students to learning difficulties of conic curve.To sum up,there are three main reasons.1.The characteristic and difficulty of conic curve.2.The problem of teachers' teaching ways.3.Students' own reasons,such as having difficulties in memorizing formulas,having bad learning habits and learning methods,being weak in thinking and lacking of interest and confidence about learning.In view of the above four types of learning difficulties and the causes of the precise analysis,and according to my own teaching experience and our school mathematics teachers ' advice,I obtained four following teaching strategies.1.Insist on learning step by step and overcoming understanding difficulties.2.Lay emphasis on the cultivation of comprehensive ability and overcome the difficulties in application?3.A variety of ways to train and improve students' counting abilities.4.Strengthen correct guidance,remove emotional obstacles.
