Modeling is one of the ten core words added to the Mathematics Curriculum and is a fundamental mathematical idea that has a pivotal place in mathematical thinking.Teaching modeling in the classroom can improve students' modelling skills and is important for developing their awareness of mathematical applications.Firstly,the literature research method is used to sort out the theoretical basis about mathematical modeling ideas,analyse the current development history and application status of modeling ideas as well as application problem teaching in primary schools,and point out the important value of using modeling ideas in application problems in upper primary schools.Secondly,survey research and case studies are used to understand the current situation of the application of mathematical modeling ideas.With the support of relevant theoretical knowledge and the meaning of modeling ideas,a teaching model for the application of modeling ideas in the teaching of application problems at senior levels was constructed.Based on the constructed teaching model,teaching principles were proposed and three teaching cases were prepared and practised at the same time,namely,"Expressing Numbers with Letters","Area of Parallelogram" and "Tree Planting Problem".Through teacher interviews,we understand the actual situation of front-line teachers applying modeling ideas in teaching,and summarise the problems in teaching mathematical modelling,which mainly include: teachers discipline too much and do not let go enough in classroom teaching,and students still follow the teachers' thinking to a certain extent.Secondly,teachers should prepare lessons carefully and make adjustments according to the actual situation in the classroom.At the same time,the teaching mode of modeling ideas should be used flexibly in the specific practical process.Finally,the following three strategies are proposed according to the teaching principles,teaching mode,teaching design,teaching analysis and evaluation of model ideas: First,focus on teachers and improve literacy.Teachers should start with the teaching materials,study them carefully,and actively learn theoretical knowledge outside the classroom to enrich their professional literacy.Second,in-depth study and interpretation of teaching materials.In the process of interpreting the teaching materials,teachers should pay special attention to mining the model ideas in the teaching materials,preparing teaching cases to follow the model idea-based teaching design process model,and not with the teachers' personal understanding of random teaching case preparation and clear teaching design steps.Third,choose the method and segment the process.When incorporating modeling ideas in the classroom,it can be done in stages,firstly guiding students to initially feel modeling ideas,and secondly using variations to help students master modeling ideas in depth.Help teachers to clarify the connotation of modeling ideas,master the theoretical knowledge of modeling ideas and build up a knowledge system of modeling ideas.
