Maker education mainly cultivates students’ innovative consciousness and creative ability.From the perspective of educational value,maker education is the requirement and change of education in the age of information technology.However,maker education in China is still in the initial stage of exploration.In order to understand and develop maker education and expand the research scope of maker education,this study focuses on the mechanism of the influence of participation and learning performance of middle school students in maker curriculum from the perspective of student engagement,constructs the relationship model between student participation and learning performance,and verifies the model and relevant hypotheses through empirical research.Finally,based on the research results,the paper puts forward strategies and suggestions to improve the participation of middle school students in the maker curriculum.In the aspect of theoretical research,firstly,this paper sorts out and analyzes the current situation of maker education research in China,and uses the knowledge mapping software to visually analyze the current hot spots and trends of maker education research.Secondly,it further combs the related research on learning theory,student participation and learning performance.Finally,on the basis of previous studies,this paper constructs the relationship model between student participation and learning performance,and designs and improves the student participation questionnaire and learning performance questionnaire.In the aspect of research design,taking《3D Design and Production》as the implementation carrier of maker course,taking the students participating in the course as the research objects,we went deep into the classroom,observed and recorded the whole process of teaching and learning between teachers and students,and interviewed teachers and students at the same time.On the basis of previous studies,students’ engagement is divided into three dimensions:behavior engagement,cognitive engagement and emotional engagement,and learning performance is divided into four dimensions:quality dimension,behavior dimension,learner satisfaction and time dimension.According to the results of observation and interview,the questionnaire was further modified and improved.After small-scale distribution and testing,the final version of the questionnaire was established.After large-scale distribution of the questionnaire,based on the effective questionnaires collected,this paper uses spss26.0 and amos26.0 software to analyze the sample data,and verifies the relationship model between student participation and learning performance and its related hypotheses.The main research work of this paper is summarized as follows:(1)the questionnaire of students’ participation and learning performance in maker curriculum was developed;(2)We found the relationship between students’ engagement and learning performance in maker curriculum:①In the current maker classroom,students’ active engagement is more,but the degree of engagement is general,among which the degree of behavior engagement is the highest,followed by emotional engagement,and the degree of cognitive engagement is the lowest;②Students’ behavior participation and emotional participation significantly and positively affect the four dimensions of learning performance,while cognitive participation has a positive effect on learning performance,but the effect is not significant;③The higher the students’ learning performance,the higher the degree of their behavior engagement and emotional engagement in the classroom;(3)From the aspects of students,teachers and schools,this paper puts forward strategies and suggestions to improve the participation of students in maker curriculum.In short,the design,implementation and research results of this study expand of this study expand the research scope of maker education,and have certain reference value for the practical development of maker education.In addition,it has certain enlightenment significance for the designers and implementers of maker courses,which can help them design more ideal courses and guide students to improve their learning performance through the correct way of participation.
