Since the Western imperialism guns opened the door of ancient China,the cultural conflicts between Chinese and the Western have become increasingly fierce in this land of China where the old and new time and space intersect,and to some extent,they have also become the driving force of intellectuals' thoughts and actions.In this transitional period of Chinese society,Ma Xiangbo as a representative intellectuals,has left a lot of solid historical footprints in the tortuous process of Chinese approaching modernization.Based on the perspective of cultural conflict between Chinese and the Western,this paper studies Ma Xiangbo's higher education thoughts,tries to explore Ma Xiangbo's choice and criticism,integration and transformation of Chinese traditional culture and Western culture,it also shows a miniature of the development,evolution and evolution of Chinese higher education since modern times,and excavates the profound significance of Ma Xiangbo's higher education thoughts of adapting Chinese and Western cultures to the reform and development of Chinese higher education and the administration of university presidents.This study takes the cultural conflict between Chinese and Western as the entrance,takes Ma Xiangbo's universities running experience as the main line,and based on the historical facts of the development of modern Chinese society and the ups and downs of Ma Xiangbo's educational life,and on the basis of understanding Ma Xiangbo's dual cultural identity and the origin of his higher education thoughts,this paper focuses on the main contents,characteristics and inspirations of Ma Xiangbo's higher education thoughts.First of all,the paper sorts out Ma Xiangbo's dual cultural identity,discusses his dual cultural identity positioning from two aspects of religious identity and educational identity,and discusses Ma Xiangbo's dual cultural identity conflict from two aspects of idea conflict and stand conflict.Secondly,this paper analyzes the origin of Ma Xiangbo's higher education thoughts from the three aspects of Chinese and Western cultural conflicts: the micro factor--family upbringing,the medium factor--school education and the macro factor--social environment.Thirdly,this paper expounds Ma Xiangbo's higher education thoughts from the perspectives of the conflict and integration between Chinese and Western ideas in the aspects of higher education function ideas,higher education teaching ideas,higher education management ideas and higher education teachers and students ideas.It mainly includes: first,in terms of training talent,he advocates the cultivation of practical talents;in terms of developing science,he pays attention to academic research;in terms of serving the society,he advocates adapting to the needs of the country.Second,he insists on the teaching content of "moral,intellectual,physical and aesthetic education",designs the curriculum structure of both humanity and science;adapts the teaching method of inspiration,guidance and independent thinking.Third,in the internal management,he advocates student autonomy;in the external management,he advocates education independence.Fourth,he pays attention to the teacher's ideas of teaching by words and deeds;he insists on the student ideas of all-round development;he maintained the ideas of democracy and equality between teachers and students.Then,based on the analysis of the core content of Ma Xiangbo's higher education thoughts,the paper summarizes the characteristics of Ma Xiangbo's higher education thoughts from three aspects: the reference and innovation of Western classical culture education ideas,the inheritance and transcendence of the Chinese traditional culture education spirit,and the absorption and reflection of the higher education thoughts between Chinese and Western.Finally,it summarizes the profound enlightenment of Ma Xiangbo's higher education thoughts on the adjustment of Chinese and Western cultures to the reform and development of higher education in China and the university president's governance: on the one hand,in order to promote the reform and development of Chinese higher education,we should enrich and improve the functions of modern universities,strengthen the reform of education and teaching concepts,respect university autonomy and democratic management,build an equal and harmonious relationship between teachers and students,and deal with the nationality and internationalization of education.On the other hand is that the university president should make clear the mission of running a university,grasp the orientation of running a university,consolidate the organizational cohesion of the university and formulate appropriate measures of university governance.
