Mathematical modeling is not only a great test of mathematical knowledge application ability,but also an important way for students to learn mathematics,so mathematical modeling is extremely important for the development of students' advanced mathematics level.In our country high school mathematics curriculum standard also clearly stipulates that the mathematics modeling thought should run through the high school mathematics learning whole process.Urumqi is the provincial capital of xinjiang,and its education level is relatively high.Understanding the students' level of mathematical modeling and its influencing factors is conducive to evaluating the overall situation of mathematical modeling in senior high schools in xinjiang.The problem of this paper is: what is the current situation of high school mathematical modeling teaching in urumqi? The investigation was conducted from both teachers and students.Based on the reading and sorting of domestic and foreign literature,questionnaires were designed for students and teachers,and three teachers were interviewed in order to better understand the views of high school teachers on mathematical modeling teaching.The mathematical modeling ability of students in grade one and grade two of four high schools in urumqi was tested by referring to the six-level modeling ability classification model of relevant scholars.The following conclusions were obtained through questionnaire and pen and paper tests: 1.None of the four schools surveyed specially carried out mathematical modeling course teaching,nor did they have complete mathematical modeling textbooks.The teaching of mathematical modeling in high schools in urumqi was not unified and standardized;2.2.Among the surveyed high school students,only 10.5% knew that the content of mathematical modeling was included in the mathematics textbook;3.Senior high school students lack basic cognition of mathematical modeling,so they have not formed the habit of viewing the world from the perspective of mathematics,analyzing the world with mathematical thinking,and expressing the world with mathematical language.4.The overall mathematical modeling ability of high school students in urumqi is relatively low,with an average score of 1.18,which is at level 1.Moreover,the modeling ability of students in grade one is significantly lower than that of students in grade two.There are gender differences in the mathematical modeling ability of high school students,and the modeling ability of boys is slightly higher than that of girls.There is an obvious relationship between the level of mathematical modeling of high school students and their schools.5.The high school mathematics teachers themselves are lack of mathematical modeling accomplishment,and their mathematical modeling accomplishment needs to be improved;6.College entrance examination is the main factor restricting the teaching of mathematical modeling.Finally,some Suggestions are given for the problems.
