Middle-aged teachers in middle schools are the backbone of the new curriculum reform and practice,and they are the firm foundation for the vigorous development of China's education.However,due to professional characteristics and various social factors,the professional development of middle-aged teachers has not been paid much attention to.Professional development is relatively lagging behind and the development situation is not satisfactory.Compared with young and old teachers,middle-aged teachers bear more and greater economic and psychological pressure,social responsibility and burden in work and life,and they are the group with high incidence of job burnout.Promoting the further development of middle-aged teachers' careers is not only conducive to alleviating the pressure of middle-aged teachers and reducing job burnout,but also conducive to the healthy and stable development of education.Therefore,to understand the current situation and difficulties of middle-aged teachers' development in middle schools,and to grasp what their needs are in career development,are the prerequisite and basis for taking corresponding measures to promote career development.In this research,middle-aged teachers from all the middle schools in Meijiang District were selected as research objects,and their occupational status and demands were studied by means of literature,questionnaire,interview and data analysis.This paper analyzes the status quo of middle-aged teachers' career development from five dimensions: professional treatment,organizational support and encouragement,professional ability,career development prospect,and professional identity.The author finds that most middle-aged teachers are not satisfied with the status quo of their career development.The professional treatment is not high;the support and incentives provided by the organization are not enough;there is an imbalance in the development of professional ability;there is insufficient confidence in the prospect of professional development;the sense of professional identity and achievement declines.Through the survey of the occupational demand,it is found that middle-aged teachers have the demand for health care and incentive,which includes not only the low-level demand for salary and professional ability improvement,but also the high-level demand for respect and self-realization.Based on the results of the survey,the problems in the career development of middle school teachers are summarized,and the factors affecting the career development are analyzed and discussed.Finally based on how to promote the middle-aged teachers professional development,the author respectively from three aspects: organization,school,personal put forward the corresponding suggestion and promotion strategy,hoping to provide some references for corresponding decision of the competent department of education,but also make middle-aged teachers master and understand the status of the own development,promote their professional ability and quality improvement.
