With the development of curriculum reform,primary school science curriculum requires more and more comprehensive,basic and practical learning for students,and theme teaching is a teaching mode that advocates students to acquire systematic basic knowledge and study in real situation.It is of great practical value to introduce the theme teaching into the primary school science classroom and explore its application in the study of scientific knowledge,and the cultivation of students' scientific literacy.In this teaching mode,students need to experience the process of "thinking,questioning,inquiry,verification and summaries",and guide students to develop scientific literacy in the process of experience and sharing.Some scholars have studied it from different subjects and different periods and achieved some results,but at present,the application of thematic teaching in primary school science is still less.In order to verify the rationality and effectiveness of thematic teaching in primary school science teaching design and practice,this paper studies the following aspects:(1)combing the current situation of primary school science teaching and thematic teaching with literature research method,clarifying the relevant concepts,basic characteristics,theoretical basis and design process of thematic teaching.(2)Based on the basic concept and design framework of thematic teaching mode,the case design is carried out with the theme of "air" in primary science curriculum as the carrier.First of all,it analyzes the core knowledge points of "air" theme and "understanding air" theme in the whole primary school stage of Jiangsu Phoenix Education Press.Secondly,it analyzes the existing knowledge level,physical and mental development level,scientific learning attitude and the basic situation of science teaching of students through interview method and questionnaire method.Finally,I take the teaching case of "does air occupy space" write a teaching plan.(3)This teaching design was practiced in class,then,carry out pre-test and post-test survey for students which include the "core knowledge points of air","scientific learning attitude" and other aspects,next make a comparative analysis of the data obtained.Through the comparison of classroom observation and pre-test data,we can draw the following conclusions:(1)thematic teaching is conducive to students' mastery of scientific core knowledge,(2)it can effectively improve students' attitude towards scientific learning,(3)it can promote the cultivation of students' scientific literacy.Through the application of thematic teaching mode in the design and practice of primary school science teaching,this paper fully verifies the rationality and effectiveness of this mode in primary school science teaching.
