In recent years,the scientific literacy level of the Chinese public has been gradually improved.However,compared with other developed countries,there is still a large gap,which has become an important factor restricting China’s economic and social development and the improvement of comprehensive national strength.The promulgation of the new science curriculum standards for primary school students in 2017 has provided a new opportunity for the development of science education for primary school students.Primary school students scientific literacy research adopted the literature research,questionnaire survey method,interviews and other research methods,through to a primary school grade five students in Guangzhou questionnaires,from the scientific knowledge,scientific inquiry,scientific attitude three dimensions as well as scientific literacy cultivation way to set up related topic,understand the primary school students scientific literacy status and problems.The problems of primary school students’ scientific literacy include incomplete grasp of scientific knowledge;The enthusiasm of participating in scientific experiment is not high;Lack of planning and persistence in scientific learning;Not enough communication and cooperation with others.The advanced model of science education at home and abroad provides valuable experience and reference for the science education of primary school students in China.The improvement of primary school students’ scientific literacy can be started from the following aspects: the government should formulate relevant policies,promote the improvement of school science education,regulate and coordinate social science education institutions,integrate and provide science education resources,and guide the direction of family science education.Schools should enhance the status and influence of science,develop school-based curriculum,improve the professional quality of science teachers and cultivate students’ ability of scientific inquiry.At the social level,community science education should play an active role,and publicscience facilities such as science museums should be fully developed and utilized.At the family level,we should change the concept of parents,establish the model of home-school interactive science education,and carry out family science education in many ways.
