Ethnic Minority Youth Social Media Use And Ethnic Identity

Ethnic culture has always been one of the hot topics that scholars at home and abroad pay extensive attention to.With the advancement of urbanization in China since the end of the 20th century,the development of science and technology and information has made the relationship between various ethnic groups and regions more and more close.When minority college students enter universities,they should not only adapt to the college life,but also to the fusion and collision of different ethnic cultures and customs under the background of mainstream culture.Therefore,they are prone to some problems of ethnic identity.As a member of hui minority college students,hui college students represent the communication direction and ideas of advanced culture.Facing the increasingly complex and ever-changing communication ideas,hui college students’ ethnic identity will definitely undergo new changes.Therefore,this study takes the use of social media by minority youth in wuzhong city,ningxia hui autonomous region as the topic to explore whether the use of social media by minority youth will have an impact on ethnic identity and draws a conclusion,thus providing a case study for the study of hui ethnic identity.Ethnic identity is an important indicator to measure ethnic relations.Meanwhile,it is also an important factor to influence ethnic relations,promote ethnic unity,enhance ethnic cohesion and maintain ethnic stability.This thesis studies the influence of the frequency and way of using social media on the ethnic identity of hui college students in wuzhong city,ningxia hui autonomous region.On the basis of extensive reference to the previous research results,the author studied the use of social media on ethnic identity of minority college students in wuzhong city,ningxia hui autonomous region,and collected information about the use of social media on ethnic identity of minority college students by means of questionnaires and in-depth interviews.As a native of the hui ethnic group,the author may have come back home periodically due to studying,which makes me more keenly aware of the changes in the influence of the use of social media on minority youth.To improve the ethnic identity of minority college students,pay attention to the interaction between ethnic college students,use social media correctly,so as to organically integrate the ethnic identity of minority college students,so that ethnic identity becomes one of the driving forces for the healthy development of minority college students.
