In the history of human thought, people's thinking about themselves runs through the history of human philosophy. In the development of philosophy for thousands of years, philosophers of all dynasties have been constantly examining the living conditions of human beings and asking the meaning of human life.Marx did the same thing. He took "realistic individual" as the premise of historical materialism, integrated social practice into philosophical research, and formed the basis of his whole philosophical thought.Based on Marx's classic works, this paper systematically studies the historical background and theoretical origin, development history, main contents, theoretical significance and practical value of Marx's idea of the "real individual".First, the historical background and theoretical origins of the idea of the "real individual" are examined. In the midst of the alienation of human beings caused by the capitalist mode of production and the rise and upsurge of the workers' movement,Marx studied, criticized and rejected Hegel's "absolute spiritual individual",Feuerbach's "nature-based individual" and Steiner's "the individual of the One",due to the lack of theories that could reasonably explain reality and guide people to act correctly.Marx's idea of the "real individual" came into being after studying, criticizing and abandoning Hegel's "absolute spiritual individual",Feuerbach's "nature-based individual" and Steiner's "individual of the One".Second, the development of the idea of the "real individual" is examined, divided into three periods. In the nascent period, the Doctoral Thesis provides a clear theoretical beginning, understanding the "individual" as the "atomic individual," and the Critique of Hegel's Philosophy of Law turns Marx toward historical materialism. In the period of establishment,Marx examined the "class nature of man," the "egoistic man" and the "nature of man.In the period of refinement,he further explored the deeper connotations of the "real individual".Again, the main elements of the idea of the "real individual" were studied: its theoretical logic and basic characteristics. The theoretical logic of Marx's idea of the "real individual" is from the abstract human being to the real human being, from the biological human being to the social human being, and the basic features of Marx's "real individual" are the unity of naturalness and sociality, practicality and consciousness, historicity and reality, subjectivity and objectivity. Finally,it studies the theoretical significance and practical value of the thought of "realistic individual".The theoretical significance provides a logical clue for the correct understanding of historical materialism,a methodological significance for the construction of the relationship between individual and society, and a key for the scientific understanding of the integrity of Marxism.Practical value is conducive to the implementation of the people-centered development concept, finding the realistic survival path of "realistic individuals"-realizing common prosperity, promoting people's all-round and free development and realizing social harmony.
