With the development of education,widening participation of higher education has brought about significant change.In the meanwhile,more and more scholars take academization as their research direction.This report chooses Chapter Four “Paradoxes of the Academization Process” in The University Revolution: Outline of A Processual Theory of Modern Higher Education as source text.Resorting to corresponding translation strategies,methods and techniques,this article solves problems encountered under the guidance of socio-semiotic approach to translation.Specifically,when dealing with the translation of words and phrases with metaphorical meanings in the text,the translator adopts methods such as changing metaphorical objects,retaining metaphors while adding meaning or annotation,translating into idioms or fourcharacter structures;when dealing with the translation of sentences with dashes in the text,the translator adopts methods such as using parentheses,omission,transposition.Through this translation practice,the author learns more about the current situation of foreign education,especially enriches her knowledge of social pedagogy and the history of the development of education in Britain,and moreover hopes to provide some reference for the translation activities of similar texts.
