The selected text is from Chapters 7-8 of Poisonous Skies: Acid Rain and the Globalization of Pollution, which mainly describes the policies of the United Kingdom and the United States on the prevention and control of acid rain,as well as the views on pollution prevention policies from the industry and the scientific community. The original text is a text of environmental science with a concise and objective presentation and uses nominalization, technical terms, abbreviations and proper nouns.According to these characteristics, the author translates the terms, proper nouns, abbreviations and idioms by selecting the meaning of words in the context and consulting parallel texts. The author translates the nominalization into verb-object structure, subjectpredicate structure or sentences. Finally, the author adjusts the word order in the chronological order and the logical order. It is hoped that this translation report can make more people get to know the historical causes and hazards of acid rain as well as the precautions of different countries and provide reference for the solution to such pollution problems in China and the translation of texts of environmental science.
