Global Financial Stability Report (Chapter 1) English-Chinese Translation Practice Report

At the beginning of 2020,under the affect of COVID-19,both the health of people around the world and the stability of the global economy were impacted.The text of this translation practice is selected from the Global Financial Stability Report(GFSR)published by IMF in April 2021.The report mainly describes some problems existing in the financial environment under the influence of the epidemic.It also describes some strategies adopted by countries to deal with these problems.Here are the following three translation difficulties: the handling of financial vocabularies,passive voice and demonstrative pronouns.Firstly,the theme of this text is about finance,so it contains many financial vocabularies.In order to translate these vocabularies well,the methods of annotation,equivalence and specific translation can be adopted.Secondly,passive voice is used in this text to ensure the objectivity of the whole report.Conversion,amplification and restructuring can be used in the process of the translation.Finally,in order to ensure the readability of the passage,it uses many demonstrative pronouns in the whole report.For the sake of making the translation smoother,reductive translation,omission and logical analysis translation can be used.The author hopes that the translation of this text can provide some references for the translation of the same type of text.
