| Jia Zhangke,as a young and outstanding contemporary Chinese film director,has developed a highly personal aesthetic and humanistic style of film since his early "Hometown Trilogy".Influenced by documentary aesthetics,Jia Zhangke’s films are simple and rough.He is from a small town,so he focuses his films on the economically and culturally backward places in China’s social reform and development.The Sanxia Project is a major event in China’s reform and opening-up process,affecting the demolition and transformation of nearly thirty cities and millions of people in China.Jia Zhangke focuses his attention on the Sanxia Project.This essay is divided into four main sections,namely,the meaning,dimensions,perspectives,and artistic approaches to the construction of the Sanxia Project in Ke’s film.The first part of this essay is to review the history of the construction and visualization of the Sanxia Project,and to elaborate on the significance of the Sanxia Project in Jia Zhangke’s film.The second part of the study uses geography,semiotics,sociology,art and other multidisciplinary theories to explore the Sanxia landscapes from four levels:space,people,events and sound.Then we compare the Sanxia landscapes in Jia Zhangke’s film with other urban landscapes to discuss Jia Zhangke’s construction of the Sanxia landscape from three perspectives: foreign land,mobility,and class.Finally,we analyze the innovations in the form and content of Jia Zhangke’s film on the Sanxia landscape and summarize the artistic techniques used in Jia Zhangke’s film.The artistic approach to the construction of the Three Gorges landscape in Jia Zhangke’s film is summarized. |
