The period of the end of Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China,was the most important time for Chinese society to turn from tradition to modern.With the disseminate and development of western culture in China,and the oppression of the political and social tension in the late Qing Dynasty,abolishing the imperial examination and promoting schools gradually became the inevitable choice of history.So whatever diehards or radicals,they all Focus on the education reform,in the hope of cultivating more excellent talents for the Qing government.Under the mutual struggle and compromise between the two sides,the New school with the characteristics of both traditional education and western education became the main direction of educational innovation in the late Qing Dynasty.From 1901 to 1911,with the support of the official forces and local gentry and the normal people,Guizhou New school experienced a gradual developing process from nonexistence to pass into existence,from less to more,from simple to complete,from high level to basic level.In the past ten years,Guizhou Education,and even Guizhou society,have made great changes because of the emergence and development of the New school.The New school gradually took the replace of the traditional education mode in the hearts of Guizhou people,such as academy of classical learning and oldstyle private school,and became the mainstream education in Guizhou.On the other hand,with the emergence of the new education model,it will inevitably lead to the death of the old education model,but the old educational resources will also become the nutrients for the growth and development of the new education model.Guizhou New school utilizes and reconciles the various kinds of the educational resources of Guizhou traditional academies in many aspects,such as school’s funds,sites,facilities,teachers,students etc.And on this basis,Guizhou New school absorbs and learns the western school system.Therefore,different from the traditional education mode before the late Qing Dynasty and the school system imitating from Europe and America in the period of the Republic of China,the New school gradually formed the development style and characteristics of eclecticism and a mixture of the old and the new,and realized the transition from tradition to modern in its development process.On the basis of adhering to the materialist research method,this paper uses the means of material analysis to sort out and analyze the development of Guizhou New school in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.Taking Guizhou University as the main research object,this paper analyzes the development characteristics of Guizhou University from the perspectives of school management,curriculum planning,and the source of teachers,so as to summarize the characteristics of great changes,blend,and Transition of Guizhou new schools in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.
