A Study Of Realistic Animal Elements In The Modeling And Decoration Of Bronze Wares Of The Shang Dynasty

The research of bronze ornamentation in Shang Dynasty has always been the focus of archaeological research.However,due to the small number,short popular time and single type of bronze,there is still a large space for the research of realistic animal elements in bronze modeling and decoration.Since the 20 th century,with the discovery of a large number of Shang Dynasty tombs and the excavation of a large number of bronzes,the research on Shang Dynasty bronzes has been deepened in the academic circles,and the research on realistic animal elements in the modeling and decoration of bronzes has been paid more and more attention.This paper takes the realistic animal patterns of Shang Dynasty bronzes as the main research object,and uses the theory and method of archaeological typology to classify the shapes,components and patterns of bronzes with realistic animal elements.Through the study of realistic animal elements in different periods,regions and utensils of the Shang Dynasty,this paper summarizes the popular times,regions and utensils characteristics of realistic animal elements,as well as the significance,location and combination rules of animal elements decoration,in order to further explore the religious and social functions of these animal elements in the Shang Dynasty.
