Depression is a common internalizing problem in adolescence and is a public health issue of great concern worldwide.Depression can have many negative effects on the healthy physical and psychological development of adolescents. The study used a longitudinal follow-up design with the Barratt Impulsivity Scale, the Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Scale, and the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale to conduct three follow-up surveys of junior high school students in a Tianjin middle school with a frequency of once every six months, and 211 valid study subjects were obtained.Study 1 examined the mediating role of life events, interpersonal relationships between impulsivity and adolescent depression;Study 2 examined the changes in impulsivity, life events, interpersonal relationships and adolescent depression over the three surveys;Study 3 examined the delayed predictive effect of impulsivity, life events, and interpersonal relationships on adolescent depression at the longitudinal level by constructing a cross-lagged model;Study 4 examined the effects of impulsivity, life events, and interpersonal relationships on adolescent depression over time by constructing a cross-lagged model. The main results of this study are as follows.(1)Life events and interpersonal relationships partially mediate the relationship between impulsivity and adolescent depression.(2)The levels of impulsivity, life events, interpersonal relationships and depression of adolescents showed changes in all three surveys, but the trends were different.(3)At the longitudinal level, impulsivity, life events and interpersonal relationships all have a delayed predictive effect on adolescent depression.(4)At the longitudinal level, impulsivity was a risk factor for adolescent depression in the first two surveys, while life events and relationships were risk factors for adolescent depression in the last two surveys. In summary, impulsivity, life events, and interpersonal relationships have different trends over time, but all three have an effect on adolescent depression, and the risk factors for adolescent depression are different over time.
