Now we have been in an era of speed supremacy, people’s pursuit of speed reflects life, entertainment, technology, transportation, information communication and many other aspects. As early as the second half of the 20th century, the French thinker Virilio began to study speed as the core, and from the perspective of phenomenological perception, put forward the original theory of "Dromology".Virilio links his consideration of speed with the reality of social life, and extends his discussion to cities,Spaces, vehicles, communication networks, technology, cinema, aesthetics, art, military and politics through speed as a key factor.A series of original concepts such as the Aesthetics of Disappearance,Picnolepsy,TELETOPIE,Logistics of Perception,Accident, and visual machines were proposed based on the theory of velocity.Starting from Virilio’s theory of Dromology and related concepts, combining the video art of Zhang Ding,Cao Fei and Xu Bing, three contemporary artists in recent years,as well as my own experience in video art creation, this paper discusses the possible impact and harm of speed and its products on our current perception.
