A Study On The Characteristics Of The Modern Uyghur Kaqun Dialect

Modern Uyghur dialects are divided into three major dialects:the central dialect,the Lopnur dialect and the Hotan dialect.In recent years,the study of Uyghur dialects has made great progresses as scholars have published books and papers on Uyghur dialects.However,the Uyghur dialects are increasingly lost its unique characteristics and tend to be assimilated by standard Uyghur under the strong influence of modern media and other external factors.Kaqung dialect belongs to the Yarkand dialect,the subdialect of the central dialect of Uyghur,is mainly distributed in Kaqung Township,Yarkand County and surrounding areas.Kaqung is located under The Kunlun Mountains,where the Yarkand River emerges,and the terrain is difficult.The harsh natural environment restricts the communication between local people and other places,and the native language is rarely affected by others,so considerable amount of ancient elements are retaining in this dialect.In addition,the special geographical environment and strong cultural heritage of Kaqung influence the language of the local people,so it forms a unique vocabulary different from other dialects.Kaqung dialect is different from Uyghur standard language and other dialects in terms of pronunciation,vocabulary and grammar.Therefore,investigation,recording and description are very urgent and important for the preservation and development of Kaqung dialect.This article consists of four parts.The first part is the introduction,the second part is the main part,the third part is the conclusion,and the fourth part is the appendix.The main contents are as follows:The first part mainly introduces the general situation of Kaqung Township and the Kaqung dialect,the review of research on Kaqung dialect in China and abroad,the significance of the research,the research method,the briefing of the survey location and the information about informant,the symbols used in this article,etc.;The main part includes the second chapter to the fourth chapter.The second chapter mainly discusses the phonetic characteristics of Kaqung dialect,analyzes and describes the vowels and consonants of Kaqung dialect respectively,focuses on the various phonetic phenomena of vowels and consonants in the speech;Chapter Three discusses the lexical characteristics of Kaqung dialect,and compares Kaqung dialect vocabulary with modern Uyghur standard vocabulary,analyzes the source of Kaqung dialect vocabulary from the perspective of the some special lexemes,the cultural connotation and structure of Kaqung dialect vocabulary are also included;Chapter Four is the grammatical characteristics of Kaqung dialect.Since Kaqung dialect is basically the same grammatically as the standard Uyghur,this paper only deals with the unique grammatical features of Kaqung dialect.The conclusion summarizes the main features of Kaqung dialect based on the description and analysis of the pronunciation,vocabulary and grammatical characteristics of Kaqung dialect in the first three chapters,and puts forward some prospects for some issues.
