"The Book of Songs" is China's first collection of poems,and it is also an organic part of the ritual and music culture of the Zhou Dynasty."The Book of Songs" has both the attributes of Confucian classics and literature,and its attribute of Confucian classics has always occupied a dominant position.Nevertheless,the literary interpretation of "The Book of Songs" have always attracted the attention of scholars of the past dynasties.The literati in the late Republic of China experienced great social changes.Under such a unique academic background,the literary interpretation of "The Book of Songs" has undergone turning and transformation,and literati scholars have created a different approach to academic research.This article focuses on the discussion and research on the literary interpretation of "The Book of Songs" in the Republic of China,and it is mainly divided into the following four parts:The first part of the introduction clearly defines the concept of "Literary Interpretation of" The Book of Songs "".The literary interpretation of "The Book of Songs" is the main interpretation of "The Book of Songs".The nature of "The Book of Songs" is understood from an aesthetic non-utilitarian standpoint.Starting from the text of "The Book of Songs",the research is carried out around the dimensions of emotional characteristics,language forms,expression techniques and artistic influence.Then,on the basis of summarizing the literary interpretation history of "The Book of Songs" and the study of "The Book of Songs" the period of the Republic of China,the basic research thinking of this article is determined.The first chapter introduces the academic background of the occurrence and development of the literary interpretation of "The Book of Songs" in the period of the Republic of China.The literary interpretation of "The Book of Songs" has never stopped since the publication of "The Book of Songs".The literary interpretation of "The Book of Songs" in period of the Republic of China inherited the suspicion and anti-preface movement of "The Book of Songs" in the Song Dynasty.It was also affected by the struggle between the ancient literature and the classics in the late Qing Dynasty.Compared with the academic origin of "The Book of Songs",the literary interpretation of "The Book of Songs" in the Republic of China was more influenced by the "May4th" New Cultural Movement.It can be regarded as an extension of new culture and new thoughts in the research field of "The Book of Songs",and it is also potentially affected by the literary concepts produced after the introduction of Western learning to the east since the late Qing Dynasty.The second chapter mainly sorts out the multi-dimensional presentation of the literary nature of "The Book of Songs" by scholars in the Republic of China.First of all,scholars in the period of the Republic of China devoted themselves to the study of the literary nature of "The Book of Songs",weakening its traditional interpretation characteristics that have been dominant.The re-identification of its nature as "The Collection of Ballads" fully affirmed and strengthened the literary value of "The Book of Songs".Then,under the academic background of sorting out the national heritage,the literary value of "The Book of Songs" is highlighted by criticizing the interpretation results of "The Book of Songs" in the past.On this basis,through re-interpreting some poems,mainly the theme of love poems;Vernacular translation of classics and other methods to carry out specific research,in-depth exploration and research on the artistic beauty of "The Book of Songs".The third chapter mainly discusses the scholars' multi-angle discussion on the artistic techniques of "The Book of Songs" the period of the Republic of China.This chapter mainly analyzes the representative expositions on the literary interpretation of "The Book of Songs" by researchers such as Gu Jiegang,Hu Shi,Xie Wuliang,Zhu Ziqing,and Yu Pingbo from the perspective of specific artistic creation techniques.It mainly includes the discussion of the repeated chapters and rhymes in "The Book of Songs" from the perspective of ballads,and affirms the enlightenment value and significance of "The Book of Songs" to the later generations of various poetry styles;Abandon the traditional thoughts of compare with the meaning of Confucian classics,and reinterpret the meanings of Fu,Bi,Xing from the perspectives of folk songs and rhetoric;Research on the rhetoric techniques of "The Book of Songs" under the influence of Western literary theories.
