| In modern society,commodity name not only bears the role of conveying the characteristics of a product or the image of an enterprise to consumers,but also reflects the reverse of people’s values and ideological changes.From the perspective of linguistics,all linguistic phenomena used in modern society can be the research object of linguistics.From this point of view,the scope of modern linguistics is very wide,especially the study of mass media language activities related to a large number of consumer behaviors,which can be said to be a new research field.Therefore,the study of commodity name is not only active in market economics,sociology,psychology and other aspects,but also applicable to linguistic research.Both China and South Korea belong to the eastern countries and have close ties in economic and trade exchanges and cultural exchanges.From the perspective of linguistics,this paper analyzes the commodity names of China and South Korea,so as to understand the current situation and characteristics of the use of commodity names in the two countries.This study takes an important role between Chinese and Korean’s commodity names.The research objects are mainly the names of food and clothing products in China and South Korea.It is found that there are obvious differences in etymology,word-formation and semantics between Chinese and Korean commodity names.In terms of etymology,Chinese commodity names are good at using proper nouns including dialects,and there is a trend of quoting foreign words in large quantities.The Korean product name is a large number of foreign words,Chinese words,rarely use proper nouns.In terms of word formation,Chinese and Korean commodity names are mostly composed of new words,and they have something in common in terms of the form of new words.The difference is that Korean product names like non-uniform words and onomatopoeia and mimicry words.But the Chinese commodity name mostly uses the common term category composition,and likes to use the reduplication,thehomophone word and so on.In terms of semantics,the two countries basically use the same way of change,but due to the differences in language and culture,social environment and basic national conditions of the two nations,the same form of semantic change in the use of commodity names are not the same frequency.In terms of rhetoric,both countries frequently use direct expression methods,but some specific rhetorical devices have different emphasis.China prefers pun and quotation traditional expressions,while South Korea prefers anthropomorphism,onomatopoetic mimicry and other analog expressions. |
