Kang Youwei's Calligraphy Activities During His Later Years Living In Qingdao

As a calligrapher of the late Qing Dynasty,Kang Youwei's life and the city of Qingdao has a deep fate.On the occasion of the Jiaozhou Bay incident,the May Fourth Movement and other major historical events,Kang has made more than 10 historic calls for saving the nation from extinction and preserving its survival.Since his return from exile,Qingdao has become Kang Youwei's main residence in his later years,where he left calligraphy and ink in his inscriptions and poems.This article takes the calligraphy activities of Kang Youwei in his later years in Qingdao as the research object,and through revealing his calligraphy learning history,time characteristics and calligraphy art characteristics,to study Kang's calligraphy activities in Qingdao.This paper tries to study Kang Youwei's calligraphy activities in his later years as objectively and comprehensively as possible,including his life and learning book survey,calligraphy creation and trading activities in his later years,calligraphy friends and his impact on calligraphy in his later years are summarized.The first part is the introduction.This paper mainly introduces the purpose and significance of the topic,research status at home and abroad,research methods and the main innovation of the article and so on.The second part is the main body of the thesis,which is divided into four chapters.The second chapter gives a brief overview of Kang Youwei's background.As a master of the theory of Stele,Kang Youwei played an important role in the field of calligraphy in the late Qing Dynasty,which was closely related to Kang's family edification and his spirit of perseverance and innovation The third chapter analyzes Kang Youwei's calligraphy creation and trading activities during his residence in Qingdao.One of the important activities of Kang's later years when he lived in Qingdao was calligraphy.Selling words was a major source of living expenses for Kang Youwei in his later years.He advertised words in newspapers and periodicals,the Fourth Chapter mainly analyzes the change of Kang Youwei's calligraphy art thought and viewpoint in his later years In the fifth chapter,we will analyze the influence of Kang Youwei's calligraphy activities in his later years on Qingdao's calligraphy culture,and sum up his later years' revision of his early works,as well as his understanding of the artistic features of "health style" calligraphy,it is of profound significance to correctly evaluate the important position of Kang Youwei as a calligrapher in the history of calligraphy.The third part summarizes Kang Youwei's calligraphy and his calligraphy activities in his later years.When he lived in the Heavenly Garden,Kang integrated his calligraphy into his daily life.In his later years,Kang devoted himself more purely to art and lived in the "heavenly tour",blending the "heavenly tour","Tianyou",a new style of calligraphy with the combination of Stele and placard,makes his style of calligraphy mature.
