Chinese culture has a long history and has never been cut off for five thousand years.A historian once said,"For thousands of years,no matter how the dynasties were changed,and the etiquette broke,but China was still China." The reason behind it lies in the cohesion and centripetal force of Chinese culture,and the Chinese people 's identity and belonging to their culture.It can be said that culture is the key to the inheritance and development of a country and a nation.However,with the in-depth development of economic globalization and the advent of the new media era,today's world presents a pattern of multiple cultures colliding,conflicting and penetrating.The introduction of western culture and the prevalence of online subcultures will not only promote the cultural development of our country and enrich the cultural life of the masses,but also bring about a certain impact on the inheritance and development of excellent traditional culture.On the other hand,in recent years,domestic variety shows have shown obvious problems of homogeneity and lack of innovation.How to find new development paths has become an issue that television program makers urgently want to solve.As a result,a number of original TV programs based on traditional Chinese culture,such as Letters Alive and Chinese Poetry Conference,have entered the public's field of view,adding a different touch to domestic TV variety shows landscape.Douglas Kellner,a well-known western cultural critic,believes that "the form of television and other media cultures play a key role in building contemporary identity and shaping people's thinking and behavior." These cultural variety shows do not only allow the Chinese people to deeply feel the splendor and charm of traditional Chinese culture,but also use the TV program as a medium to reconstruct the audience's collective memory of Chinese culture.As a mainstream media,CCTV is responsible for telling Chinese stories,spreading Chinese voices,and nurturing and building cultural confidence.Faced with the growing spiritual and cultural needs of the people and the current state of cultural anxiety facing the public,CCTV has launched a large number of outstanding cultural variety shows,including Class Chanting and Spreading.This program selected classic poems in Chinese culture and combined them with modern music to re-interpret it.Once it was broadcast,it attracted a lot of attention,with an average audience rating of 1.42% of 34 cities in the first four phases and creating a new record for cultural programs.Guangming Daily,People's Daily,Beijing Daily and other media have published articles affirming the value of the show in terms of cultural heritage,aesthetic value,and musical innovation.In 2018,17 members of the CPPCC jointly proposed that Class Chanting and Spreading be put on campus and into teaching materials.On January 11,2019,in the 5th CSR Chinese Culture Award,co-sponsored by the People's Daily National Human History magazine and the Beijing Normal University China Charity Research Institute,Class Chanting and Spreading won the media responsibility prize.In January 2020,the third season of Class Chanting and Spreading was launched,and Douban's current rating is as high as 9.1.The praises and affirmations from all walks of life have confirmed to a certain extent that this program really has success and can be used for reference.Poetry is based on chanting spirit,and music is based on joy."Poetry has always played an important role in the historical scroll of the Chinese nation,carrying the strong emotional attachment and collective memory of the public.Then,how does Class Chanting and Spreading use the medium of classic poetry to awaken and construct the collective memory of Chinese culture,so as to enhance the public's sense of belonging and collective identity to Chinese culture?After combing the research literature on the Class Chanting and Spreading,the author found that domestic scholars mainly focused their research perspectives on the program's innovation path and communication mode,while there was very little literature from the perspective of collective memory.To sum up,the purpose of this article is to take Class Chanting and Spreading as the research object,and discuss the problems of why to build collective memory,the foundation of collective memory,how to construct collective memory,the specific connotation of the collective memory,reflection on the construction of collective memory in turn,and conduct an in-depth analysis to explore how TV variety shows can better consolidate the society by reconstructing the collective cultural memory of the masses in the face of multicultural collision and cultural anxiety in order to improve cultural identity.Specifically,the research idea of this article is as follows.In order to better understand how the Class Chanting and Spreading uses the Chinese traditional culture to construct the collective memory of the masses,this article will discuss the development of domestic cultural variety shows and the reasons of taking Class Chanting and Spreading as an example in the second chapter,laying the foundation for the later research.Considering the literary style of poetry,the audience is relatively limited,and there is a certain elite tendency,the third chapter of this article will focus on how the Class Chanting and Spreading works dilute the sense of distance of the poetry to gain more attention and recognition from the audience.Through research,it is found that in the selection of poetry and classic vocalists,Class Chanting and Spreading considers the current aesthetic orientation of the masses.These settings largely make poetry no longer limited to the art which is appreciated by a few people.Next,the fourth chapter of this article will analyze the concrete path of collective memory construction in the program Class Chanting and Spreading from the perspective of ritual construction,symbol construction and interactive construction.Classic vocalists,connoisseurs,and audiences are the three participants in the show,and they play different roles in the program's spreading ceremony.Secondly,the construction of collective memory can also depend on specific visible and sensible stage symbols.Symbols are the media that carry memories,which can trigger the resonance of the audience and make the show more inviting.Through various forms of interaction,the program can reach a wider audience and strengthen the connection with the audience.In the fifth chapter,this article will specifically analyze the concrete connotation of the collective memory constructed by the program Class Chanting and Spreading.Through the re-interpretation and interpretation of classic poems,the program made the audience feel the splendor and extension of Chinese culture,the nourishment of culture to itself,and the spirit of self-confidence,initiative,openness and diversity in Chinese culture.The content of the sixth chapter is the reflection on the construction of collective memory in Class Chanting and Spreading based on the previous research.In the context of a market economy,the production and dissemination of any variety show must take economic benefits into account.In the process of dissemination of the program,the dependence on the star effect is obvious,and it cannot fully achieve the effect that the program attempts to use poetry to publicly identify and inherit the Chinese culture consciously.In addition,the collective memory of the audience awakened by the program is partially traumatic.
