Shi Tiesheng is a writer with distinct personal characteristics in the history of contemporary Chinese literature.In his decades of wheelchair career,he has shown us a spiritual world with speculative color and religious meaning with profound philosophical thinking and great writing power.Most of his literary works take suffering as the theme,but suffering is not equal to tragedy.Shi Tiesheng's tragic consciousness has experienced a continuous development and in-depth process.This paper will analyze Shi Tiesheng's tragic consciousness from three aspects.First of all,this paper makes a diachronic analysis of the development of Shi Tiesheng's tragic consciousness.Taking 1985 and 1995 as the boundary,Shi Tiesheng's creation can be divided into three periods.In the first period(1979-1985),Shi Tiesheng's novel creation has the color of psychological healing.His vision is limited to the suffering and discrimination suffered by the disabled,his style is resentful and sentimental,lack of grand vision and tragic resistance In the second period(1986-1995),Shi Tiesheng expanded from one's own sorrow to the dilemma faced by the whole human being,and made an objective and rational analysis of the human tragedy situation.The characters in the novel changed from self pity to bold resistance,and their tragic consciousness was mature.In the third period(1996-2010),Shi Tiesheng continued to pay attention to it However,the focus of writing has shifted to the rescue of human tragic situation,in which the consciousness of confrontation has been gradually weakened and the salvation with religious meaning has increased;in form,prose,essays and miscellaneous notes adapted to it are adopted,which are more objective and speculative in style.Secondly,this paper analyzes the connotation of Shi Tiesheng's tragic consciousness from the synchronic perspective.The limitation of the body can be regarded as the logical starting point of his tragic consciousness,which is manifested in the difference of fate and the estrangement of the soul in the dimension of space,the nihility of meaning and the absurdity of life in the dimension of time.No matter which dimension,its end point is the tragedy that human beings cannot bear.Shi Tiesheng once regarded love as "the remedy of deformity",but love itself is full of paradox.After decades of writing and thinking,Shi Tiesheng finally found the salvation road to the gospel in the aesthetic and process,neither succumbing to the fate,nor resenting the fate,but in the limitations of the fate,he took the fate with the attitude of love and beauty.Finally,Shi Tiesheng put his philosophy of tragedy into literary creation with "meaningful form",including fictitious characters,ancient garden images and the structure of looping back and forth.His philosophy of tragedy and artistic expression complement each other,presenting us a feast of art with philosophical connotation and formal aesthetic feeling.Shi Tiesheng's tragic consciousness was not achieved overnight.His early experience provided him with experience accumulation.Until the mid-1980 s,Shi Tiesheng's tragic consciousness began to mature.In this process,Shi Tiesheng thought deeply about the origin of human tragedy,and finally realized that the existence of human being is the limitation.Therefore,it is futile to try to get rid of the limitation on the material level.Only by giving up the persistence of the result and seeking for love and beauty in the process is the real way of salvation.The theme connotation and literary expression of his later novels are based on this concept.
