Roland Barthes,a French philosopher, used the concept of “Punctum" to describe the parts of a photograph with the characteristics of contingency and metaphor. There is also the phenomenon of “Punctum" in concrete painting. It has many similarities and some differences with Roland Barthes “Punctum" in photography. The “Punctum" in the concrete painting refers to the elements that seem to have nothing to do with the original picture, which makes the original painting elements present a kind of dislocation or incompleteness, and adds a new feeling to the viewer's conventional visual experience.By analyzing the representative works of three artists,Jenny Saville,Giorgio de Chirico and Luc Tuymans, this paper tries to explain the different expressions of “Punctum" in the concrete painting and provide a new angle for the audience to interpret the picture. In addition, the continuous generation of spike points in time and space further achieves the view.It is to deepen and expand the possibility of picture interpretation.
