A Comparative Study Of Hobsbawm And Marx's Thought On World History

World history thoughts is an important content of Marx's materialism theory.The research of the development of world history runs through Marx's thoughts from early to the late period.In fact,Marx's thought of world history studies how,driven by the logic of capital,all nations in the world move from isolation to a unity that influences each other in their exchanges.More importantly,the relevant issues of Marx's world historical development have been expounded in many originalities,which has undoubtedly become an important resource for future scholars to study the history of the world.A distinctive feature of Marxist theoretical system lies in its openness and inclusiveness,and with the evolution of the times,the Marxists of later generations will raise new questions and viewpoints according to the background of their own times,which means that Marx's thought of world history will be enriched and developed.As Hobsbawm put it,"Marx in the 21 st century must be different from Marx in the 20 th."As an important representative of "British Marxism" in history,Eric Hobsbawm's research has greatly influenced the field of history.It is invisible that Hobsbawm is also a faithful believer in Marxist theory,and in the study of history he has always used Marx's materialist view as a guide to study historical issues.In the specific academic research,Hobsbawm always consciously uses the analysis method of materialism to study historical problems,and analyzes the development of world history.At the same time,he also saw that with the development of history,some of Marx's discourse has been not accepted.In this sense,Marx's thought is still in development.Therefore,it is very necessary to reflect critically on Marx's own thought and Marxism so that Marxism can develop continuously in solving the real problems.Comparing Hobsbawm and Marx's thoughts on world history shows that,on the one hand,Marxist philosophy has enduring value and charm,on the other hand,it is necessary for later Marxists to reflect and supplement Marxism.At the same time,from the height of world history to analyze the development of history is helpful for us to grasp the domestic and international situation in the current and accelerate the formation of a community of shared future for mankind.In this sense,grasp the analysis of Hobsbawm and Marx on the development of world history,as well as the similarities and differences between these two thinkers,has theoretical and practical significance for us.According to the above logic,the content of this paper is classified as four dimensions: the first part in this paper is the basic part,this part is mainly through the reading and analysis of specific texts,combed out the Hobsbawm world history thought and summarized the main characteristics of this thought on this basis;Finally,the author intend to summarize this article,namely analyze the value and limitations of Hobsbawm's world historical thought.
