A Comparative Study Of The Exoticism Of The Works Of San Mao And Tian Huilin

There are two female writers,Sanmao from Taiwan,China and Jeon Hye-rin from South Korea.They are both regarded as legendary female writers in China and South Korea because of their unique personal experience and exotic style.In this paper,Sanmao’s prose collection "The story of Sahara" and Jeon Hye-rin’s essays collection "Fernweh" are selected as the objects for parallel research and the analysis of exoticism in the works by using the method of comparative literature image.This paper tries to interpret the two writers’ works from a new perspective.The main body of this paper is divided into three chapters.In the first chapter,by comparing the growth track of Sanmao and Jeon Hye-rin,the process of literary creation,the choice of literary style and the development conditions of prose and essay literature in China and South Korea under the social conditions,the author analyzes the reasons why the two writers are highly sought after.In the second chapter,combined with the analysis method of comparative literature image,the author compares the exoticism in the two works,and analyzes how the writers construct the image of foreign countries and realize the self reflection,from the four aspects of foreign initial impression,foreign characters,foreign customs,foreign social problems and so on.In the third chapter,Sanmao and Jeon Hye-rin ’s motivation of choosing vagrancy as their own writing style of foreign countries is analyzed.Sanmao and Jeon Hye-rin both go abroad because of their " outlander" identity and the pursuit of love.Through the writing of exoticism,they build their own "Utopian" spiritual home.
