Mei Qing is known as one of the three giants of the Huang Shan painting school, along with Jian Jiang,Shi Tao in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty. This thesis takes the painting works as the core and analyze the formation and characteristics of the deformation technique of Mei Qing by combining the internal with the external one, such as his poetry, life experience, aesthetic taste and other factors. At the same time, according to the relation between the deformation and the technique of Mei Qing style,This thesis redefines his status in the history of painting.First of all, this article will summarize the landscape deformation techniques in the history as two types:foundation deformation and exaggerated deformation. The foundational deformation was flourishing before the Ming Dynasty. At the same time, the cases of individual exaggerated deformation appeared. In the late Ming Dynasty, exaggerated deformation became a kind of group behavior, and painters were creating their own individuality in order to form their own unique style. We can say that the appearance of the latter foreshadowed deeply for the unique charm of the exaggerated deformation in Mei Qing' art.Secondly, with the method of formal analysis, the paper analyzes the characteristics of the early and late deformation techniques of Mei Qing, and focuses on the concrete embodiment of his deformation technique in different periods. In the view of this thesis, the foundational deformation is the main technique in the early Mei Qing, and the exaggerated deformation is still in the brewing stage. But Mei Qing's late painting transformed into exaggerated deformation, which is reflected in the formation of its unique CunFa,stretching, twisting, circling and other aspects of Mei Qing painting. This transformation marks the maturity of Mei Qing.Thirdly, this paper discusses the relationship between the deformation technique and Mei Qing's style.Mei Qing's mature period of painting concentrated in his Huang Shan paintings.By means of exaggeration technique,Mei Qing formed a unique style with decorative beauty, flying and fantasy artistic conception, which are not only his life experience and aesthetic ideal, spiritual pursuit in artistic creation, but also the significant feature of Mei Qing and different from other painters. Finally, this thesis puts forward two points. In the diachronic point of view,Mei Qing is a master of landscape painting of the landscape deformation. In the synchronic point of view,Mei Qing is a pioneer in the history of fantasy landscape painting.
