| The rapid growth of car use has exacerbated traffic congestion and environmental pollution. In recent years, the urban public transport system is constantly improving, but in the structure of residents’ travel mode, the proportion of public transport travel has not significantly improved. Therefore, persisting in the development of low-carbon green travel, finding potential public transport users from the car owners, and gradually guiding them to transfer to public transport, improving the travel sharing rate of urban public transport are urgent traffic problems to be solved in China.Based on the travel survey data of car owners in Kunming, this paper analyzes the bus travel behavior of car owners, and focuses on the influence mechanism of bus use frequency and walking accessing time tolerance threshold of car owners. The major research work is as follows:(1)This paper analyzes the five travel characteristics of car owners, such as the purpose of bus travel, the frequency of bus use,the tolerance threshold of bus stop walking accessing time, the acceptable waiting time, and the attitude towards cars and buses, and with the above characteristics of public transport users are compared and analyzed. The results show that car owners mainly use public transport for leisure and commuting purposes. The average number of times of using public transport within a week is 1.34,and 74% of car owners do not use public transport travel within a week. The tolerance threshold of walking accessing time for car owners is the largest in the range of [6,10] minutes, and 94.9% in the range of 20 minutes. The acceptable waiting time of car owners is the largest in [6,10] minutes, and the acceptable waiting time is95.1% in 20 minutes.Car owners and bus users are more satisfied with the safety and reliability of public transport, and more satisfied with the comfort and convenience of cars.In addition, car owners have the highest evaluation instrumental, followed by affective.(2)The structural equation model is used to explore the influence mechanism of socio-economic demographic attributes, attitude towards public transport and attitude towards cars on bus use frequency. The results show that the attitude of the car owners to buses and cars, gender, age, education level and family annual income have significant impact on the frequency of bus use,and the attitude of car owners to the car has more significant impact on the bus use frequency than the attitude of the public transport.(3)The structural equation model is used to explore the influence mechanism of socio-economic demographic attributes, attitudes towards buses and cars, car ownership, and frequency of bus use on the tolerance threshold of walking accessing time. The results show that the attitude towards cars and buses has a significant impact on car ownership and bus use frequency. The age, education level and occupation have a significant impact on car ownership;while the age, gender, education level and occupation have a significant effects on the frequency of bus use.Gender and the bus use frequency have a direct impact on the tolerance threshold of walking accessing time. The attitude towards the car,car ownership and bus use frequency have an indirect impact on the tolerance threshold of walking accessing time. The research results enrich the research on travel behavior, which is of great significance to reveal the internal mechanism of car owners’ mode transfer, and has certain guiding significance for optimizing the structure of residents’ travel mode, adjusting the layout of public transport facilities, and improving the utilization rate of public transport. |
