The development of western architecture is closely related to geometry.Geometry as a concept existed in space with great significance, from the ancient Greeks to the Renaissance. At the end of the 17 th century,French architect Claude Perot noticed the classical geometry and proportion inherited by Vitruvius. The architectural form collided with the modern industry.Modernism was the continuation of history. Therefore, starting from the big background of the development of modern architecture, the study selected the two most representative of modernist architects, using geometric order for project analysis,to explore the rules behind the different architectural form,it can be said as the "language",and through the grid, prototype and proportion of different forms. The main research objects are Mies van der Rohe and Louis I.Kahn and their works.Among them, the projects about Mies are carried out in timelines of different periods, while the projects about Kahn are classified and studied in terms of different geometric methods. There is a similar geometric language in both projects. However, the different philosophies and design concepts of architecture make the two works present completely different spatial forms, and the geometric language,as the realization tool of architectural design, has different meanings for internal space and external expressionThrough the analysis of geometric order existing in a large number of cases, this study discusses how to take geometric language as the basis and inherit the realization of spiritual space since classicism.Modernist architecture intends to rediscover the formal nature of architecture. The development of the modern era has made the materiality and symbolism of architecture lose their relevance.Looking for architectural language again is conducive to improving people's evaluation of architectural art,and re-examining the autonomous law existing in the architecture itself. The study can not only deepen the understanding of the development of the modernist architectural movement in the 20 th century. At the same time,it can also inspire the expression of spatial form and spiritual level of current architecture...
