Louis·I·Kahn is one of the best architects in the West, while Tadao Ando did a big success in eastern architecture. They all used the modern architecture language to express the traditional spirit. Both of them are ever deeply influenced by Le Corbusier, and because of the similar space-feeling, the beautiful lights and shadows and the favours of the fair-faced concrete, people always put them together to discuss. However, under these phenomena, they wanted to convey their own thinking, in other words, the real essencein their space is different. They are major luminaries in architecture in the world, therefore it is easy to find the researches on them and their works, but it is seldom to see a thesis about comparing their works systematically. The purpose of this thesis is just to explore their thinking through comparing their works and analyzing their space form.
