With the rapid development of China's economy, frequent environmental pollution incidents have seriously threatened the people's living standards and the country's economic development.Environmental issues have become one of the key issues of concern to the party and the people, and it is urgent to protect the environment. Therefore, the government has issued a series of policies and regulations to regulate corporate behavior to protect the environment. For enterprises, the continuous development and improvement of my country's environmental regulations force them to actively adjust their development strategies, continuously implement knowledge coupling strategies, incorporate green environmental protection into their corporate development strategies, carry out green technological innovations, and achieve corporate strategic performance. In the early stage of environmental regulation, environmental laws and regulations were imperfect, with low penalties and inadequate supervision. The cost of environmental governance of enterprises was relatively low, which failed to motivate enterprises to adopt knowledge-coupling strategies related to environmental protection to affect their strategic performance.Later, with the continuous development of government environmental regulation laws, regulations and policies, the cost of corporate governance of environmental pollution continues to increase, and the environmental protection funds that need to be invested continue to increase.Companies will adjust the knowledge coupling strategy to improve the efficiency of environmental pollution control, and consolidate internal On the basis of the accumulation of knowledge base, gradually develop external knowledge coupling strategies and expand new business segments.Doing so will increase the company's expenditures in the short term and have a negative impact on the company's strategic performance and financial aspects. However,in the long term From a point of view,it can not only save independent research and development costs, but also create new economic growth points, which is conducive to the improvement of corporate strategic performance.Based on the "Porter Hypothesis" theory, this article conducts a longitudinal land order case study on the more polluted steel industry representative Shanxi Taigang Stainless Steel Co.,Ltd.("TISCO Stainless" for short)as the case study object.According to environmental regulations in different stages The different characteristics presented are discussed in accordance with the research ideas of "different stages-corporate strategies-impact results",and further explore the different levels of internal and external knowledge coupling strategies on corporate strategic performance in different stages of environmental regulation. On the one hand, this research validates the "Porter Hypothesis" theory, and on the other hand,it provides certain practical enlightenment for the government to formulate policies and for polluting enterprises to adopt different knowledge coupling strategies to improve the strategic performance of enterprises in the face of the downward pressure of different environmental regulations. The results of the study found that: at different stages of environmental regulation, companies adopt different internal and external knowledge coupling strategies, which have different impacts on the company's strategic performance. At the same time, the investment in knowledge coupling related to environmental protection caused by different stages of environmental regulation has little impact on the strategic performance of enterprises.
