The inverse scattering problem based on the Thorsos tapering wave incident on a rough surface is investigated in this study.A fractal function characterizes a rough surface, and a fractal function represents a rough surface interface. The rough surface scattering problem is expressed as an initial boundary value problem of the Helmholtz equation, and the rough surface backscattering problem is mathematically modelled. After obtaining the inverse scattering problem using the mathematical model, the inverse scattering problem is solved using the bayesian approach in statistical method.First, the inverse scattering problem model of unknown variables, observed values, and observation error as random variables, and suppose an unknown quantity with prior distribution and observation error with distribution, according to the bayesian formula, inversion parameters are given, that is,an unknown quantity to meet the posterior distribution. This is the first stage in solving the inverse scattering problem using the Bayesian technique. After determining the posterior distribution of inversion parameters, the posterior distribution is expressed using the Markov chain Monte Carlo method. Finally,to achieve rough surface parameter inversion, the metropolis-Hastings algorithm and Matlab software are utilized to get the posterior distribution of inversion parameters.
