In this thesis,168 midium and high grade students from the intellectual department of three special education schools in J City,Guangdong Province are taken as the research objects,taking the daily exercises and examination thesis of medium and high grade students with mental retardation as the research corpus,this thesis makes a statistical analysis of the writing errors of middle and senior students in mental retardation schools from three directions: whole words,parts and strokes by adopting various research methods such as literature research and interview.The results show that stroke level and component level are the main types of writing errors,while the whole character level is not the main type of writing errors.At the stroke level,horizontally,the main error types are stroke deformation error and stroke combination error,which shows that there are some difficulties in writing strokes and combining strokes in the learning of stroke level for middle and senior students in intellectual schools.The number of errors of students with autism spectrum disorder is more than that of students with mental retardation,and there is consistency between middle grade and upper grade.Vertically,with the increase of grades and study time,the number of errors of five types in stroke level has decreased,which shows that the writing foundation of senior students in intellectual schools is getting stronger and stronger.At the component level,horizontally,the main error type is component structure error,which is mainly due to the lack of sufficient understanding of the layout of Chinese characters’ components,and the inability to deal with the structural combination and spatial relationship of Chinese characters.The number of errors of students with autism spectrum disorder in middle grade is more than that of students with mental retardation,while the number of errors of students with autism spectrum disorder is less than that of students with mental retardation in upper grade.Looking vertically,With the increase of grades and study time,At the component level,component change errors and component structure errors are reduced,On the contrary,the number of missing parts and adding errors increases,which shows that with the increasing complexity of learning Chinese characters,mentally retarded students will also have inertia.When writing Chinese characters,they lack some missing parts to simplify Chinese characters,improve the speed of writing Chinese characters and reduce the difficulty of writing.At the whole word level,the types of errors include errors caused by pronunciation and shape similarity,errors caused by form similarity and errors caused by pronunciation similarity.The number of errors of students with mental retardation is larger than that of students with autism spectrum disorder,which is different from that of students with two types of disorders in component level and stroke level,which shows that students with mental retardation are more difficult to distinguish similar Chinese characters and use Chinese characters.At the same time,with the growth of grades and the increase of learning time,the number of errors in the whole word level of middle and upper grade mentally retarded students will increase.This study also probes into the causes of writing errors of Chinese characters among medium and high grade Students in School for the Mentally Retarded,and finds that the causes of writing errors mainly include Chinese characters,teaching materials,teachers,learners,parents and modern educational technology,and puts forward corresponding solutions from four aspects: teachers,classroom teaching,parents and schools.It is hoped that through the development of this study,the teaching level of teachers can be improved,and the writing level of Chinese characters of students with mental retardation can be improved,and the writing error rate can be reduced.
