| With the advancement of modernization transformation,the intergenerational ethical relationship is also undergoing profound changes.At present,the research focuses on the father-and-son relationship but mother-in-law and daughter-in-law（MIL-DIL）relationships fall into neglect.MIL-DIL relationship is closely related to social changes and family changes because of its intergenerational characteristics and gender color.However,the academic has not paid enough attention to it.This paper takes village B in Hebei Province as the research site,adopts the method of case study,collects information through semi-structured interview,takes the interaction between MIL-DIL in the collectivization period of the village,the period of reform and opening up and the period of market economy as the research object,combs the characteristics of MIL-DIL interaction in different periods,and then summarizes the mechanism of intergenerational ethical reform.This study includes five parts.The first part explains this research about its questions,significance,summary the research methods.The second part summarizes that the MIL-DIL interaction in the collectivization period generally presents the characteristics of authority and obedience.Collectivism has impacted the authority of parents,and the socialized production and work point system have determined the legitimacy basis of the equal status of MIL-DIL in the labor field;In the field of family,there are small-scale conflicts between MIL-DIL in the process of childbirth and separation,but the transformation of culture by national forces is not achieved overnight.Under the culture of filial piety,MIL can still use identity authority to exert multiple pressures on DIL.The third part summarizes the characteristics of conflict and independence in the MILDIL interaction in the period of reform and opening up.The household contract responsibility system has promoted women’s economic creativity,women’s sense of family and fertility have changed,and the consideration of the development of the core family has replaced the selfless dedication to the overall interests of the extended family.When the MIL exerted pressure on the DIL with traditional authority,they encountered fierce resistance.They have conflict in the family space,economic power and fertility,and then they form the situation of living independently of each other,and a close but secret way of providing for the aged has been developed.The fourth part summarizes the characteristics of compromise and cooperation in the MIL-DIL relationship in the period of market economy.In this period,women’s advantages in the economic field,marriage market and network field are prominent,their status is further improved,there has developed the phenomenon of compromise from MIL to DIL and cooperation dominated by DIL,and a new type of unequal intergenerational relationship is formed.The fifth chapter reflects on the transformation of intergenerational ethical relations from the transformation of MIL-DIL relationship.This study believes that collectivism,market economy,the development of network technology and local culture have played an important role in the evolution of intergenerational ethical relations based on the relationship between MILDIL.The research conclusions of this paper are as follows:First,based on the investigation,the relationship between MIL-DIL in general present the trend of "stable-conflict-stability",the stable state is not again returning to the traditional authority,but the MIL compromise with their DIL,in ethical structure presented by " The MIL is superior to the DIL " to the development trend of " The DIL is superior to the MIL",The essence changed from authority obedience to intergenerational exploitation;Second,as a structural relation,the change of intergenerational ethical relation is the result of the mutual construction of structure and action.In the process of social transformation,new resources are constantly released.As actors,MIL-DIL use rules and resources to continuously reproduce structural relations.The initiative of actors has been playing a role,and finally leads to the transformation of MIL-DIL relations.The result of this kind of reform is not achieved overnight,but has a long time and process.Collectivism,to a certain extent,has impacted the patriarchal authority structure in the traditional family,and the improvement of women’s economic and social status has become the resources controlled by wives to express their resistance to the traditional ethical structure,showing a loosening of the intergenerational ethical structure in the family field.The mode of production and values of market economy have a profound impact on people’s action concept and way,which causes the reversal of intergenerational ethical structure between MIL-DIL.The expansion of economic rationalism and individualism has intensified the demand of MIL.The development of network technology solidifies the ethical structure.When DIL master the power of online discourse and economic power,they become marginalized in the network era.Since ancient times,the rural society emphasizes the intergenerational obligation to "finish the task" for the offspring,which is the cultural basis for the realization of the intergenerational ethical reform between MIL-DIL.This rural culture,as a structural force,influences the mother-in-law’s behavior. |
