In the process of urbanization, the rural landscape has been changed, and the economic development and population popularity have been promoted.,and a large number of young and middle-aged labor forces in rural areas have poured into cities. But registered residence system, income level and other factors restrict children to stay in their original residence.Left behind children are lack of parental supervision,so it is particularly important to improve the self-management ability of rural left behind children, especially in the context of COVID-19.Under the guidance of cognitive behavior theory, this study explores an effective way to improve the self-management ability of rural left behind children by carrying out case service.Taking a typical rural left behind child in Z town of Shandong Province as an example, this paper collects and analyzes the problems of self-management of service objects by using the methods of observation and interview, and finds that the problems of self-management of service objects are mainly caused by the service objects’ wrong cognition of life and learning, which leads to the service objects’ deviant behavior.Under the guidance of cognitive behavior theory, this study focuses on the combination of problem solving and advantage cultivation in the process of social work service. On the premise of building a professional trust service relationship, this study directly introduces cognitive behavior theory and ABC theory to the service object to help the service object find the relationship between their own behavior deviation and cognition and emotion. At the cognitive level,Socratic Questioning, direct questioning and encouraging affirmation are used to help service objects identify, debate and rebuild correct cognition. At the same time, correcting wrong cognition also paves the way for later behavior deviation correction and emotion mobilization.Social workers help clients choose correct and appropriate change methods through guiding education and Socratic Questioning to ensure that behavior change can be effective. At the same time, through role-playing,we can enhance the understanding and communication between father and son and enhance the family support of service objects.Through the evaluation,we draw relevant conclusions: Cognitive behavioral therapy has high applicability and remarkable effect for the special group of rural left behind children, the wrong cognition of the service object has been changed, the self-management ability of learning, life behavior and emotional relationship has been significantly improved, and the mood has also undergone positive changes. Finally, this study reflects on the deficiencies in service follow-up and other aspects of the intervention in the self-management of rural left behind children under the cognitive behavior theory, and puts forward its own thoughts on the related problems of left behind children combined with this practical experience.
