At present,China’s economy has changed from high-speed growth stage to high-quality development stage. The key to the rapid and steady development of economy lies in advanced manufacturing and advanced technology. The positive policies at the national level such as made in China 2025 and the withdrawal of key patents for additive manufacturing technology have stimulated the vitality of the 3D printing industry. At present, there are some problems in the 3D printing course of secondary vocational school, such as weak students’ communication and cooperation ability and problem-solving ability, widespread learning burnout, and the difficulty of balancing the course content between professional ability and learning motivation, resulting in the contradiction of difficult employment and recruitment in the field of additive manufacturing.Through the analysis of relevant research status at home and abroad,it is found that the introduction of engineering education elements into secondary vocational curriculum has become a new development trend. The thesis first summarizes the current situation of the course through interviews and questionnaires and analyzes the causes.Based on the theories of constructivism, learning by doing and project-based teaching, this paper integrates the concept of CDIO into the 3D printing curriculum of secondary vocational schools, designs the teaching content framework and evaluation scheme, and constructs the teaching process of the curriculum according to the mode of construction, design, implementation and operation.Focusing on the basic and comprehensive design engineering practice projects, this paper carries out teaching practice in secondary vocational schools.Through questionnaire survey and IBM SPSS statistics 22.0 software, this paper analyzes the teaching effect of 3D printing course based on CDIO concept. The results show that the teaching of 3D printing course based on CDIO concept has significant effects on improving students’ technical knowledge and reasoning ability, personal professional ability, interpersonal communication ability and system ability. The course effectively alleviates the problem of learning burnout, improves innovative thinking and problem-solving ability, and enhances students’ information literacy and engineering ability. In the stage of teaching reflection, through personal observation and after-school communication,it is found that there are still some problems, such as the influence of learning concept on innovation ability, the lack of coordination of overall time allocation and the use of printers. The teaching improvement scheme of changing students’ concept, balancing the overall progress of the course and optimizing printing time is given. This paper proposes the teaching design of 3D printing course in secondary vocational schools based on CDIO concept, which meets the requirements of secondary vocational education for engineering ability training, helps to alleviate the structural contradiction between the supply and demand of 3D printing high-quality skilled talents, and provides a reference for the education and teaching reform of other courses in secondary vocational schools.
