Mainly through literature research method, historical analysis method and logical analysis method, this thesis conduct an analysis on the historical background influencing the formation of early martial arts thought from the political, economic, cultural, and military factors at that time. And spontaneously, this thesis traces the historical roots of the formation of early martial arts thought, and reveals the relationship between the educational significance of contemporary Chinese martial arts and early martial arts thought. There exist two reasons for taking early martial arts thought as the subject.First, the industrialized development of martial arts needs to further carry forward the martial arts thought. Moreover, the need of martial arts thought for the development of martial arts itself is also an important factor.Focusing on the formation of early martial arts thought, activity forms and groups, the content of the thought, this thesis makes an argument based on these aspects and draws the following conclusions.1.The formation of early martial arts thought relied on the military thought of the Art of War and the pre-Qin period. The cross-compatibility and interpenetration of martial arts with religion, politics and the military were the outstanding features of the development of martial arts in this period. The activities of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods(wrestling, playing with swords and knives, martial dance, horsemanship and archery, slingshot)not only promoted the improvement of military skills at that time but also met the needs of military warfare. It also provides a valuable basis and reference for the inheritance and form of contemporary martial arts.2.The group of "wizards, archers, and warriors" define the basic qualities of the historical group of martial arts practitioners who played important social roles in the religious, political, military, and educational areas. It was their personal practices that created the brilliant early martial arts ideology.3.Three early martial arts ideas were summarized through the personal practice of martial arts practitioners in the pre-Qin Dynasty.First is to attach importance to military forces and win by cleverness.Second is to win a victory through unusual means and the third is to strive for victory with stability and safety. The influence of the early martial arts thought has been extended to the current era and has influenced the contemporary martial arts.4.The idea of "winning by trickery" in early Chinese martial arts is mainly expressed in contemporary martial arts, such as "to be wise and skillful but not forceful","to obey others but not to lose the self thought",and "to understand the opponent without exposing oneself. In contemporary martial arts, the idea of "winning by unusual means" is mainly expressed in the following three points: First is to adopt the straightforward plan.Second is to master the skill of winning by trickery.Last is to defeat enemy in invisible way.The idea of "seeking victory in stability" in contemporary martial arts is mainly expressed in two points: "seeking stability" and"seeking victory".5.Early Chinese martial arts thought in promoting and inheriting martial arts thought, and promoting the development of martial arts should be carried out from promoting sports culture and sports industry at two levels. In the cultural level,we should:(1)To enrich the concept of education with martial virtue.(2)To firm values with martial chivalry.(3)To construct social harmony by cultivating martial arts rites. At the industrial level,we should:(1)promote martial arts sports by "winning with trickery".(2)To strengthen the competition performance,we should "win by surprise".(3)To promote martial arts culture,we should keep stable to win all.
