| With the rising demand for technical talents in society and nation’s strong support for vocational education,the academic development of vocational school students has become particularly important.Influenced by the inherent high school entrance system,most of the vocational school students haven’t done well in their junior middle school studies and their views towards study are relatively poor.To better enter society to work,they enter vocational schools to learn professional skills.Their families,schools mostly hold a negative attitude towards their study,resulting vocational school students have a low sense of academic self-efficacy and a more negative attitude towards their study.Attitude towards study not only affects students’academic performance,but also affects their future employment,so it is very important to have a positive mentality towards study.Through a large number of literature reviews and surveys of vocational school students,from the perspective of positive psychology,based on Seligman’s PERMA model,the concept and dimensions of positive academic mentality are defined and a questionnaire of positive academic mentality for vocational school students is designed.Luthans and Youssef(2007)believed that the more positive factors individuals have,the more positive they will be[1].According to this point of view,this study implements formal Questionnaire on Positive Academic Mentality of Vocational School Students and Adolescent Developmental Assets Profile to explore the status quo of positive academic mentality and developmental assets of vocational school students,and the relationship between them.This study includes 3 parts:part one is the design of questionnaire on the positive academic mentality of vocational school students.On the basis of qualitative research such as literature review and interviews,a questionnaire on positive academic mentality of vocational school students is developed according to PERMA model.After the preliminary questionnaire was distributed and collected,results show that the positive academic mentality of vocational school students had a first-order five-factor structure,which was consistent with the previous theoretical hypothesis.The model fit was good and the questionnaire had good reliability and validity,which could be used to further measure the positive academic mentality of vocational school students.The second part of the study is the research on the current situation of positive academic mentality of vocational school students.The present situation of positive academic mentality of vocational school students was investigated by using formal questionnaire.The third part of the research is to investigate the relationship between positive academic mentality and developmental assets of vocational school students.By using formal Questionnaire on Positive Academic Mentality of Vocational School Students and Developmental Assets Profile to investigate the relationship between the two,major findings are concluded as follows:(1)The positive academic mentality of vocational school students includes five first-order factors,which are positive academic emotion,academic significance,academic engagement,academic effectiveness and academic relationship.The questionnaire of positive academic mentality of vocational school students has good fitting degree,the internal consistency reliability of the questionnaire is 0.939,and the composite reliability is 0.962,which has good reliability and validity.(2)The positive academic mentality of vocational school students is generally above middle level,and their description of their own learning state is great effort,earnest,positivity,hard-working and optimism.The positive academic mentality of vocational school students is significantly different in individual factors such as gender,grade,subjective socioeconomic status,family structure,father’s education and left-behind or mobile experience.(3)The developmental assets of vocational school students are above medium level.There are significant differences in the developmental assets of vocational school students in individual factors such as gender,grade,subjective socioeconomic status,family structure,parents’education,left-behind or mobile experience,and awards in skill competitions.(4)The positive academic mentality,positive academic emotion,academic significance,academic relationship,academic engagement,academic effectiveness and developmental assets and each factor of vocational school students have significant positive correlation.Among them,devotion to learning,self-affirmation,support,effective use of time and social ability have significant predictive effects on positive academic mentality of vocational school students. |
