| Story teaching was an important part of kindergarten teaching activities during the period of the Republic of China.Driven by the change of people’s views on children and education,the development of kindergarten normal education and the upsurge of foreign children’s literature translation,story teaching in kindergartens during this period gradually formed a set of unique system and norms in teaching materials and teaching methods through continuous exploration,practice and development.The genre of story teaching in kindergartens during the period of the Republic of China mainly included five categories:ordinary stories,fairy tales,life stories,scientific stories,and historical and geographical stories.Most of children’s stories with the themes of truth" and "goodness" have political orientation under the influence of the background of the times;the organization form can be summarized by the formula"beginning→ narration→ transition→ conclusion".Regarding the discussion on the standards of material selection,Chen Heqin believes that story teaching materials should be in line with children’s life experience and rich in movements.In addition,narratives on the selection criteria of children’s stories can be found in some kindergarten teachers’ textbooks during the period of the Republic of China,including that the stories should be interesting and repetitive,and can arouse children’s sympathy.During the period of the Republic of China,story teaching in kindergartens emphasized the teaching principles of emotion,visual and encouragement.The creation of teaching environment included the use of teaching aids,the arrangement of seats and teachers’clothing.In the specific implementation,story teaching can be divided into four basic steps:appreciating the story,retelling the story,performing the story and creating the story,and each step has certain teaching requirements and methods.Generally,story teaching in kindergartens during the period of the Republic of China have following characteristics.Story teaching pays more attention to children,story materials are scientific and life-oriented,and the implementation of story-based approach focuses on combining a variety of art forms.This paper summarizes the experience in the development of story teaching in kindergartens during the period of the Republic of China.According to the current situation of kindergarten story teaching,it is believed that its literature aesthetic value should be emphasized with the design of scientific and reasonable questioning,and it is necessary to pay attention to the exploration and utilization of folk story resources. |
