Attacks and violent acts of college students occur frequently, and constantly appear in the public’s vision,so that college students’ aggressive behavior has become the focus of social attention. The continuous occurrence of college students’ aggressive behavior not only causes psychological problems such as anxiety and depression of the attacked individuals, but also reduces people’s sense of social security to a certain extent. Therefore, the major problems of college students’ aggressive behavior still need to be paid attention to,and how to prevent college students’ aggressive behavior is also an urgent problem to be solved in the current society. The purpose of this study is to explore whether there are significant differences in explicit aggression and implicit aggression of college students with different levels of mentalization(high-mentalizing,low-mentalizing)in different acceptance situations(peer rejection, peer acceptance)through two experiments. The Chinese version of the Reflective Function Questionnaire-54(RFQ-54)was used to sift out 23 subjects with high-mentalizing and 24 subjects with low-mentalizing.In experiment 1,the competitive reaction time task was used to measure the explicit aggressiveness of the subjects in the two situations. In experiment 2,the Implicit Association Test was used to measure the implicit aggressiveness of the subjects in the two situations. The results show that:(1)Different mental ability of college students in different rejection situations of the impact of explicit aggression are different. The main effect of mentalization was significant(F = 12.878,p < 0.01),so was the main effect of different rejection situations(F = 50.282,p < 0.001);The interaction between the level of mentalizing and different rejection situations was significant(F = 4.870,p < 0.05).The explicit aggressiveness of high mentalizing and low mentalizing students in peer rejection situation was significantly higher than that in peer acceptance situation(p <0.01).However,there was no significant difference in explicit aggressiveness between the high-mentalizing group and the low-mentalizing group in the peer acceptance situation, and the explicit aggressiveness of the high-mentalizing group was significantly lower than that of the low-mentalizing one in the peer rejection situation(p < 0.01).(2)College students with different mental abilities have different effects on implicit aggression in different rejection situations. The main effect of mentalization was significant(F = 6.723,p < 0.05),so was the main effect of different rejection situations(F = 29.864,p < 0.001);The interaction between the level of mentalization and different acceptance situations was significant(F = 6.904,p < 0.05).The implicit aggressiveness of low-mentalizing students in peer rejection situation was significantly higher than that in peer acceptance situation(p < 0.01).However,there is no significant difference in implicit aggression between different acceptance situations for students with high mentalization; There was no significant difference in implicit aggressiveness between students with different levels of mentalization(high-mentalizing,low-mentalizing)in peer acceptance situation, while the implicit aggressiveness of students with high mentalization was significantly lower than that of students with low mentalization in peer rejection situation(p < 0.01).Conclusion:(1)In different rejection situations, there is a significant difference in the level of overt aggression between the high-mentalizing group and the low-mentalizing group. In different mental levels, there are significant differences in the explicit aggression of college students in peer rejection situation, while there are no significant differences in the explicit aggression of college students in peer acceptance situation.Mentalization and different rejection situations have interactive effects on college students’ explicit aggression.(2)There was significant difference in the implicit aggression level of the low-mentalizing group, but no significant difference in the implicit aggression level of the high-mentalizing group. In different levels of mentalization, the implicit aggression of college students in peer rejection situation has significant differences between groups, while the implicit aggression of college students in peer acceptance situation has no significant differences between groups. There is an interaction between mentalization and different rejection situations on implicit aggression of college students.Synthesizing(1)and(2),we can see that in the peer rejection situation,high-mentalizing ability has a certain protective effect on college students’ explicit aggression and implicit aggression. This also provides another clear direction for how to prevent individual aggressive behavior.
