With the development of science and technology, media has become the main carrier of transmitting information.Violence media, including movies,TV,games and other media, contains violent content, which has a negative impact on people’s daily life, and the violence phenomenon has attracted more and more attention from all walks of life.Previous studies have shown that the violence in the media has become an important inducement to individual attacks and even violent crimes. Therefore, based on General Model of Aggression, this study explores the impact of violence media contact on individual aggression and the influence of gender and empathy.Based on the investigation of the impact of violence media contact on aggression, the paper further explores the differences of the impact of different violence media contact modes on the male and female students’ explicit and implicit aggression, and comprehensively discusses the impact of individual and situational factors on aggression. This study consists of two parts,in the first study,517 college students were selected to investigate the relationship among the degree of violent media contact, empathy and aggression by using Exposure to Violent Media Questionnaire,Interpersonal Reactivity Index and Aggression Questionnaire. On the basis of the study, which confirmed that the degree of violent media contact can be positively predict the aggressiveness of college students,a total of 89 students who further selected the top 27 percent of violent media exposure were studied experimentally, and the subjects were randomly assigned to different ways of violent media contact, namely violent game group, violent video group and control group. The short-term effects of explicit and implicit aggression in different violent media contact ways were tested by using Competitive Reaction Time Task and Implicit Association Test. The results show that:(1)There is a significant positive correlation between the degree of violent media contact and aggressiveness; There is a significant negative correlation between the degree of violent media contact and the empathic attention dimension in empathy; There is a significant negative correlation between the empathic attention dimension and aggressiveness;(2)Boys are significantly higher than girls in the degree of violent media contact, the dimension of opinion taking in empathy and the total score of aggression. There is no significant gender difference in other variables;(3)Empathic attention plays a mediating role between the degree of violent media contact and aggressiveness;(4)There are short-term effects of violent media contact on explicit and implicit aggression, and there are differences among different contact ways;(5)In explicit aggressiveness, there is no significant difference between genders, violent game group and violent video group are higher than control group, but there is no significant difference between violent game group and violent video group;(6)In implicit aggressiveness, female students are significantly higher than male students, violent game group and violent video group are higher than control group, and violent game group is significantly higher than violent video group Group. The conclusions are as follows:(1)The degree of violent media contact has a significant positive predictive effect on aggressiveness, and the degree of violent media contact, opinion selection and aggressiveness of male students are significantly higher than those of female students. The higher the degree of violent media contact, the higher the aggressiveness, and empathy attention plays a significant mediating role between the degree of violent media contact and aggressiveness;(2)There is a short-term effect of violent media contact on college students’ aggressiveness, and there is no significant difference in explicit aggressiveness between male and female students after short-term contact with violent media. In terms of implicit aggressiveness, girls are significantly higher than boys.At the same time, there is no difference in explicit aggressiveness, but there is difference in implicit aggressiveness, that is,the aggressiveness caused by contact with violent games is higher than that caused by contact with violent video and non violent games.
