| Academy is one of the manifestations of ancient higher education,which contains rich ancient Chinese philosophy and culture.However,the existing research mainly constructs “the history” of this ancient Academy based on western educational concept.Taking Yuelu Academy as a historical sample,by adopting the methods of historical research and literature research,this paper is to conduct an in-depth research on the historical materials of the lecturing activities of Yuelu Academy in Song Dynasty,trying to answer the question of what the genuine historical picture of the lecturing of Yuelu Academy is like during that time and exploring the rules and characteristics of the lecturing of Yuelu Academy in Song Dynasty with the hope of enlightening today’s society and education.This paper first combs and divides the development of Yuelu Academy in Song Dynasty into several stages and on this basis,restores the real history of the lecturing of Yuelu Academy in Song Dynasty in the form of chapters from its purpose and content,lecturing methods to lecturing organizations.The development of Yuelu Academy in Song Dynasty experienced the process from construction,development to prosperity.In this process,lecturers from different schools gave lectures.The purpose of their lectures was clear.The lecturing was organized step by step based on students’ current levels,strengthening mutual improvement in learning and thinking,paying equal attention to both knowledge and practice.Scholars taught Confucian classics in various forms,such as lectures and debates.They emphasized the moral cultivation and self-learning ability of students,cultivating a large number of talents,which made the Academy become the heartland to develop and spread Huxiang culture.The lecturing of Yuelu Academy in Song Dynasty reflects its characteristics of being open and inclusive,independent and creative,free and flexible.All of these provide a mode for modern education reform,solutions to some problems in education and lessons worthy of reference. |
