Yuelu Academy was honoured as one of the four famous academies in Chinese history.The reason why it could receive such high reputation was closely related to its teaching activities and outstanding academic achievements. As an education institution, Yuelu Academy not only existed as an important town of Neo-Confucianism, but also gradually became the research center of Neo-Confucianism. Meanwhile, it trained lots of talented people, and some of them even played very important roles in Chinese history. Yuelu academy achieved such plenteous achievements by no accident. It had formed its own unique teaching models during the process of its development. These teaching models not only prompted the students to master the knowledge better, but also effectively stimulated their passion of study. For today, with the highly developed technology and information, the teaching models of Yuelu Academy may not completely suitable for modern teaching,but by analyzing the teaching models of Yuelu Academy, we can find the contained teaching philosophy, which will have significant meanings to the developing of modern teaching.Firstly, the thesis briefly describes the teaching historical vicissitude and teaching outputs of Yuelu Academy, and then represents the four teaching models of Yuelu Academy. They are self-studying and supervision, giving lectures,running seminars, and travelling and experiencing. Secondly, we summarize the characteristics of these four traditional teaching models and analyze the effectiveness of its characteristics from the perspective of educational psychology.Thirdly we mainly explore the reasons why these four teaching models of Yuelu Academy are formed from the aspects of geographical location, educational philosophy, students' subject and teachers' positive attitude.Finally, to the problems which may exist in modern education, the author puts forward the following several suggestions. Teachers should have an unconditionally positive regarding towards students and cultivate students' sense of responsibility. Meanwhile,teachers should ask students to pay attention to examples setting in the same peer,highlight students' personal experiences and develop the students' language expression. By using these five suggestions and emphasizing the problems when we use the five teaching methods, we can get some audiences towards the modern teaching activities and it will promote the establishment of effective modern teachingmodels.
