| In recent years, the number of master students in China has increased year by year, but the quality of cultivation needs to be improved, which is mainly reflected in the lack of innovation ability of master students and the generally low intercultural sensitivity. In today’s increasingly frequent intercultural exchanges, intercultural sensitivity is more important as the basic quality of master students. Therefore,it is urgent to improve the intercultural sensitivity of master students in China to help them better adapt to the diversified international society.Singapore’s postgraduate education has a relatively high degree of internationalization and emphasizes the cultivation of intercultural sensitivity of master students, its experience is worth learning from Chinese universities. In view of this, based on convenience sampling, this study selects local master students from C university and Z university in China and N university and S university in Singapore as the participants. This study has borrowed the intercultural sensitivity scale revised by Wang Wenting and others to conduct a questionnaire survey on the intercultural sensitivity of master students from the four universities to compare the similarities and differences in the intercultural sensitivity of master students from the four universities in the two countries and their causes. The statistical results of SPSS indicate that:1.In the overall intercultural sensitivity scores of master students, the two universities in Singapore are significantly higher than the two universities in China;2.The experience of studying abroad has a positive but not significant impact on the intercultural sensitivity of master students from the four universities of China and Singapore. The reason is that, the differences in the internationalization of courses, domestic intercultural communication experience, early language education and focus, internationalization of teachers, and cultural values make the overall intercultural sensitivity of master students in Singapore two universities significantly higher than that of master students in China. The reason why the studying abroad experience has a positive but not significant impact on the intercultural sensitivity of master students from the four universities of China and Singapore is that on the one hand,it is affected by the item design of the questionnaire and the small sample size, and because of Singapore’s harmonious multicultural atmosphere, the master students of the two universities in Singapore who have study abroad experience have a rich experience in active group contacts, while the actual and effective intercultural interactions among master students who have study abroad experience from the two universities in China are few, therefore, the experience of studying abroad does not have a significant impact on the intercultural sensitivity of master students in the four universities of China and Singapore; On the other hand, the intercultural sensitivity of the master students of the four universities in the two countries can also be improved in the continuous intercultural communication and adaptation. Therefore, this study put forward the following suggestions:1.Accelerate the internationalization of courses and focus on enriching the learning experience of master students;2.Improve the English teaching environment and enrich the intercultural communication experience of master students;3.Enroll more international excellent teachers, and enhance the intercultural sensitivity of local teachers;4.Strengthen the education of multicultural values and enhance national cultural self-confidence;5.Strengthen the guidance of studying abroad to help students adapt to the intercultural environment more quickly. |
