Career expectations are people’s pursuit and yearning for a certain occupation, and it is an important basis for predicting individuals’ early engagement in related occupations.Occupational expectations of offspring are parents’ future career expectations and life development plans for offspring, which are deeply affected by their parents’ social class status, cultural background and life experience. With the development of urbanization and industrialization, agricultural and rural resource elements are constantly shifting to cities. In the future, the number of farmers will decrease. As the successors of the country and society, the offspring of farmers are the key to realizing the strategy of rural revitalization. Therefore, studying the probability distribution of farmers’ preference for farming and its influence on offspring’s career expectations will help to better realize rural revitalization. This paper analyzes 620 questionnaires in Guizhou Province from the perspective of farmers’ preference for farming, based on preference theory, behavior reinforcement theory and intergenerational transmission theory, and uses the binary Logit model to study the influencing factors of offspring’s career expectations. And conduct preference research from the perspective of occupation to analyze the probability distribution of farmers’ preference for farming at this stage. The results of the study show that, firstly, with the increase of age,the proportion of farmers who prefer to engage in agriculture and hope that their offspring will engage in agriculture will increase.Secondly, the proportion of pure farmers who prefer to engage in agriculture and hope that their children will be engaged in agriculture in the future is greater than that of part-time and non-agricultural households.Pure farmers hope that their children will be more engaged in agr iculture in the future than part-time and non-agricultural households;pure farmers prefer to engage in agriculture more than part-time and non-agricultural households;and 42.9%of pure farmers do not prefer to engage in agriculture, but they are engaged in reality Agriculture,34.8% of non-agricultural households prefer to engage in agriculture but do not engage in agriculture.Thirdly, the chi-square value of the cross-analysis of farmers’ farming preference and offspring’s career expectation is 91.2422,Pr = 0.000,indicating that farmers’ farming preference significantly affects offspring’s career expectation.Fourthly, farmers’ preference for farming, family characteristics, agricultural capital, agricultural cognition, etc.affect their offspring’s career expectations.Among them, farmers’ preference for farming positively affects offspring’s career expectations at the 1% level, and variables such as the degree of family democracy, the age of the interviewee, and agricultural prospects have a significant positive impact on offspring’s career expectations at the 5% level; The interviewer’s agricultural degree at the 10% level posit ively affects the offspring’s occupational expectations;the spouse’s agricultural degree at the 10% level negatively affects the offspring’s occupational expectations.Based on the above research conclusions, several corresponding policy recommendations are put forward. The first is to improve the rural social security system and public welfare construction to enhance the attractiveness and happiness of rural life. The second is to make up for shortcomings through the policy of strengthening farmers and benefiting farmers to cope with the development trend of "agriculture, rural areas and farmers".The third is to achieve the integration of urban and rural development by improving our country’s population mobility policy.
