As an important social capital, social trust plays an indispensable role in the social system. In the current era of "trust crisis" and "social contradictions",residents of different social classes have different social capital due to differences in their ability to draw resources. There have been discussions in the academic circles about the differences in social trust among residents of different classes, but previous studies have seldom explored the reasons for such differences in depth, nor have they studied the intermediary mechanisms that exist in the influence of social classes on residents’ social trust. This paper analyzes the data of the Chinese Social Survey(CSS2017),operationalizes the social trust of residents into specific research indicators, and uses principal component analysis to define different types of social trust based on previous research experience.Through data analysis The specific impact of subjective social class on different types of social trust, and then further analyze the mediating role of social justice in the influence of subjective social class on social trust. The study found that subjective social class has a significant impact on the trust level of Chinese residents. The main research results are divided into the following points:(1)The social trust of Chinese residents presents the characteristics of difference from close to sparse:(1)Compared with In other groups, residents have a higher level of trust in acquaintance groups.(2)The differential order characteristics of residents’ social trust are not only limited to blood relationship, but also include the differential order of residents’ emotional and intimate identity. In addition to kinship groups, residents also show a high level of trust in groups with emotional connections such as friends and colleagues.(2)The subjective social class has an impact on the social trust of residents.(1)The higher the subjective social class status of residents, the higher their level of social trust.(2)The influence of subjective social class on the social trust level of residents varies due to the differences in social relationships.Subjective social class has a very significant influence on the trust of strangers. The higher the status of the subjective social class, the greater the impact on strangers. The higher the level of trust;the subjective social class has no significant influence on the trust of acquaintances whose main trust objects are blood relationship and emotional relationship groups;the subjective social class has a significant influence on the trust of institutions whose main trust objects are the social system formulation or executor groups,But not significant.(3)The social trust of residents presents obvious characteristics of population heterogeneity, and is affected by the residents’ subjective evaluation of the social environment.(4)The sense of social justice plays an intermediary role in the social trust of the subjective social class on the residents.(1)The sense of social justice plays an intermediary role in the institutional trust of the subjective social class on the residents and the trust of strangers, but has no effect on the trust of acquaintances.(2)Among the three different types of fairness, opportunity, distribution, and rights, the sense of right fairness has the largest mediating effect on institutional trust, and the sense of distributional justice has the largest mediating effect on trust in strangers.Based on the study of the relationship between subjective social class, social justice and social trust, this paper proposes that promoting social justice is one of the important ways to improve the level of social trust of residents, and at the same time, improving the level of social services is also an effective way to increase the social trust of residents.
