Reading evaluation ability is an important element of reading ability.Education of the Chinese language continues to deepen and reform,the ability to read becomes increasingly prominent in the education of Chinese language.Improving students’ reading ability lies not only in the cultivation of their reading comprehension ability and appreciation ability,but also more importantly training students to identify and judge the read materials.It lays a solid foundation for students to achieve continuous growth through independent reading in future life.Based on Bloom’s new classification theory of cognitive goals,the author brings forth the elements of discrimination,appreciation and critic.In combination with analyses of targeted individuals,to construct a framework of performance for the key components of reading,there forth carrying out experimental research in real-life teaching.This study is not an abstract paper on the concept of reading,but true observations and statements of improvements made by students.Teachers are most probably unable to bring about immediate improvement in any student,it has to come into combination with teaching contents and materials,and along with periods of training to standardize behaviors and performances.Research topics are determined through pilot studys: how to gradually improve students’ reading discrimination ability,appreciation ability,questioning ability? Combining the key components in the performance framework with the REAP rundown and structural analysis chart,the writer conducted an in-depth study on students’ ability to read critically,through three rounds of practical research.During the first round of research,students are required to read the classic novel “Bridge”,and to focus on practicing the skills of discrimination,in order to establish a preliminary understanding of the characters,themes and stylistic techniques in the text.During the second round of research,the focus is placed on making improvements to the inadequacies of the first round.Alterations were made to deal with the inappropriate arrangement of manpower and timetable,whilst more attention was paid to the students’ inability to analyze,critic and question the text.“The Largest Wheat Ear” was incorporated to train students’ ability to critic and question after reading.During the third round of research,the classic passage “Poor Man” is taught during class,as an overall review and practice to improve students’ reading evaluation ability.Through three rounds of research,I conclude that reading teaching based on REAP can help students develop reading evaluation ability.To cultivate the ability of reading evaluation,students should be divided according to their own ability,in order to receive suitable and targeted training.Among the key components of the performance framework,there is observed to be significant gaps,reading identification ability is generally higher,reading appreciation ability is second,and reading questioning ability is the least improved.Improvement can be brought about with the help of various elements,such as appropriate content,reasonable pace,and the correct methods.The improvement of its ability depends on many factors,such as proper teaching content,reasonable reading teaching process and correct teaching methods.To put forth some suggestions and comments in response to the classes of critical reading,firstly it is to carry out the process at a reasonable pace,cultivating reading habits and improving skills one step at a time,as it is an ability that requires long-term efforts.Secondly,teaching materials has to be chosen based on ability and interest,in order to stimulate thinking and constructive discussions.Third,to ask smartly.Questions has to be raised in a suitable sequence,to step-by-step reveal deeper meanings and trigger intellectual thoughts.Lastly,students need to undergo guidance in attempt of critical thinking,and improve students’ evaluation consciousness. |
